I worked at Microsoft full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

They do a little bit of everything. If you want to do it, you can probably do it at Microsoft.

Cons

The culture is frustrating, and it feels like the executive level decisions are completely detached from the wishes of the employees at times.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good (healthcare, life insurance, etc.)
Perks are great (Company Store, Pro Club Membership, etc.)
    Really smart people

    Cons

Work/Life balance is out of whack even though they are trying to fix it
Long term planning needs help. Many projects are killed after a few years of existence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encouraging risk-taking is great as long as people aren't slammed at review time.
