I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Some of the benefits, and vacation.

Cons

Pre-2007, there was very little noticeable politics. It got progressively worse to where there is politics everywhere from the foot soldiers to the generals. In general, there seems to be a lack of integrity and basic respectful communication among employees as of the last two years. The addition of younger brash kids to get extensive work done at poor quality and for a pittance hasn't helped foster a professional work environment either. In my opinion, these negative attitudes could be top-down, since the change has been gradual since 2007/08. In terms of your career growth, the most important thing to note is that hires and promotions are light years from being transparent. Hard skills and soft skills (communication initiative leadership tendencies etc) alone will NOT get you places.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

1) Take genuine interest in your employees. 2) Be fair to ALL employees.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Integrity, respect, sharing and care are ingrained in the culture. This is a company that leads by example and is willing to take the brunt of politics for the sake of the larger common good.
It provides excellent career opportunities and is willing to provide cross-functional exposures.

    Cons

Ambiguity tolerance needs to be high for a person joining this company. The dynamic nature of the industry necessitates this company to be on its toes and respond quickly to the changing environment. This might mean change in roles / organization structure.

  2.
