National Cable Communications Employee Review

A corporation where if you are pro-active, have a good work ethic and friendly personality you will be fine.

Current

Pros – Good co-workers, and accessable managers who are willing to teach, but you have to be pro-active and seek out answers. The culture is fairly friendly and generally inclusive, with a good work-life balance. There are slower times of the year when the hours are shorter than ususal.

Cons – There is very little training, you have to figure it out, or ask others. Often it is difficult to figure something out, and asking one person for help turns into five or six people involved and making a simple problem into an issue.

You must be very proactive in order to get ahead, there is no hand-holding here. During busy times the hours are long. There is little recognition for going above and beyond.

Sometimes cliques can develop among the less professional workers, usually the younger women who seem to get hired based on how the look or who they are friends with. Its important to stay above the fray in order to be taken seriously by management.

Advice to Senior Management – Improve training and make it easier to access training from outside the company. Continue to promote from within, and give coordinators and planners guidelines and they can follow in order to move ahead in their careers. Provide optional get-togethers that are not at bars, where co-workers can get to know each other better.
