I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

You are hired for your demonstrated ability to get the job done, company gives you significant room for professional autonomy which not giving you too much room to cause serious financial harm, I came into corporate world expecting to be "spoon fed" training on how to perform at the PM level and being a profit and loss entity individual training dollars are tight so you are left with a lot of OJT or self training.

Cons

Too little resources for new hires (managers) to get acquainted with the corporate's tools and procedures

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time

    Pros

Northrop works to keep people employed, moving them to different programs when current programs wrap up.

    Cons

Keeping your salary advancing requires that one only stays there for 3-4 years max before moving to a different company. Same as all aerospace companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time planning and tracking detail-level work. Do it carefully, and have it done by someone who really knows the task, not just whoever you can get a team to give up.

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

health benefits were very good and the company has on site health clinics every 6 months or so. Cholesterol and blood pressure screening for free.

    Cons

Not too green thinking or eco friendly, insisted on using fluorscent bulbs and when asked if we could turn them off overhead they would not allow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be proactive in bringing back employees after contract ends. Be more up front about contract end dates and not secretive. Use more telecommuting, people traveled great distance to come to work and were tired after a horrendous commute in DC area. Make use of NG buildings close to the employees home instead of having them travel across town and pass an NG building on their block.
