Pros

Northwestern Mutual maintains unparalleld moral values in a less than trustworthy industry. NW also demonstrates amazing commitment to clients and new reps. Uncapped opportunity for growth and salary. A laid back and friendly work place.

Cons

Unbelievably difficult to get your business off the ground. Essential to have a broad network of existing relationships to use as a base market and for further networking purposes.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This is a great company. however, it is not cut out for every personality type. I mean you don't technically need a college degree. It's all about the level of communication and self confidence. And even that is not enough, the confidence must be based around being a bit salesy and overwhelming belief in the products. Knowledge comes with experience obviously, however, you better have 6 months rainy day money on deposit or clients lined up that will buy life insurance from you within the first month or else you will starve for a long time.

    -Complete independence
    -paid training
    -Self accountability
    -Great mentors
    -Best training around

    Cons

    -100 % commission
-Zero client referrals, 100% self created markets (friends, family, and networks)

    Pros

    Weekly stipends are a plus.

    Cons

Commission based meaning what you put in is what you get out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be a salary with this job along with commission.
