Friendly company, good hours, social atmosphere

Cons

Little support from above, interaction between different countries poor, frustratingly slow progress of projects

    Many nice people – especially the more recent joiners

    Cons

    Clichés and fiefdoms connected by their length of service, rather than value, competency or effectiveness.

    Decision making by committee or collective – no one wants to be accountable for a decision.

    Stop shuffling and promoting the same old bunch of people around

    I have been working at Old Mutual

    Pros

    Balance personal and work - allowing time off when one needs it.
    They seem to provide benefits which are slightly higher than other competitors in the industry.

    Cons

    compartmentalised nature of the group - there seems to be a lot of r redundancies with no clear group direction. Senior management do not appear to want to feed back information to the staff. Communication is good but could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It is important that staff feel part of the business. Businesses where staff have felt part of the business, they have given unquestionably of their time and effects. Be more forth coming and keeping staff in the loop with what goes on in the rest of the group and how this might affect them. In this era of near recession, it is important that staff feel senior management are sympathetic to what might become of their jobs and whether or not they will be losing theirs.
