I have been working at Owens & Minor full-time (more than a year)

Pros

A fair salary coming out of college, quarterly and holiday bonuses, workplace certifications with financial incentive. Pay for performance is rumored to be starting soon. The management is competent and open to comments and suggestions from teammates. Processes are tweaked to improve efficiency.

Cons

Working a nights and weekend shift limits interaction with friends and family. More of a shift con than company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adding a four ten work schedule would be nice. Poll employees to gauge openness to the idea.

    Fellow employees, O&M University, regional and national meetings, customer service & office staff, the ability for decision making at a local level

    Pros

    Excellent benefits but have nothing positive to say other than that

    Cons

    This place is constant turmoil. It is not about doing the job right and making the customer happy it is about POLITICS and who like who and who doesn't like who. Longevity and loyalty and great job performance has nothing to do with surviving in the company, it about who likes who. DC management likes people to feel that their jobs are constantly in jeopardy. They promote fear and intimidation and the Home Office HR seems to like this too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get back to the basics. Work to satisfy the customer not work to see who is best at the politics. Pay attention to something that is constantly happening at DC's that is wrong and investigate why it is really happening. Teammates end up being the scapegoats for DC managements bad decisions and direction. Example: If GM's at a particular DC just don't seem to last over and over again maybe take a good hard look the the AVP that is directing the GM's and so on. Ask yourselves " Why is this happening again and again " Then take action.
