I worked at SRA International full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

SRA provides good benefit such as tuition reimbursement and pays well

Cons

Employees are dispensable after off a project for 2 weeks. SRA does not do a good job on helping its employee locating another project/assignment.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are too many managers and not enough contributors/do-ers on a project. A more "shallow" reporting organization chart will work better and save more money.

your career depends SRA client, mostly like to be government.
For them, you are cheap labor. If the government cut budget, they give you two weeks to seek position within the company, which is full of crap positions never filled

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of stupid managers, know how to treat employees

Not a good company to work for if you're not in the upper management structure...

I have been working at SRA International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Non-management staff are an outstanding group of talented people

    Cons

    - Top heavy, management-bloated organization (way too many VPs, Senior VPs, Executive VPs, etc.) steeped in 1970s/1980s management mentality
    - "Good 'Ol Boys" make up a lot of that top heaviness
    - Company expects ridiculous working hours, and does not appear to care about work/life balance or the impact working schedules have on families
    - "Frugal" company that cuts costs in the most ineffective areas
    - Company is reactive, not proactive
    - Company values numbers, not people
    - Management "spins" information to the customer so much that it borders on dishonesty
    - HR department appears to be staffed with people that have no knowledge or experience with HR

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

First, your employees are the ones who are doing the work - value and respect them as they should be! Employees should not be made to feel as if it's a privelege to work for this company - it isn't, and the company should be priveleged that some good people have chosen to work there (for whatever reason). Second, clean house! Get rid of the unnecessary senior management, the old Theory X management mentality, the anti-employee attitude, and the Good 'Ol Boy network. If you need to cut costs, start with unnecessary, dead wood executives and their salaries - dont take away leave time from employees who need it! Last, do more listening and less dictating - especially regarding areas in which you are not experts.
