I have been working at Sony PlayStation

Pros

Cool product, street cred from others b/c you work there, pride in affiliation with cool brand

Cons

Palpable friction between departments, lots of talking about teams/people behind their back, employees seem openly dissatisfied-- every meeting seems to end with somebody complaining about someone or something-- just a generally very sad and depressing working environment

Advice to ManagementAdvice

more focus on good ideas rather than seniority or tenure. Trusting people (or hiring people you trust) should lessen the bloated bureaucracy at the company and allow for faster decision making.

    I have been working at Sony PlayStation

    Pros

    High Brand, some great people and projects. Product development organization is much better run than the corporate side.

    Cons

    Lack of real vision from executive team. Executives are self serving, afraid of talent. Too many junior employees compared to senior management. Infrastructure and process is lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need more fresh blood at highest positions. Many executives have been at the company a long time, probably too long. Do what you say you're going to do. Don't just talk about it.
