I worked at Standard Chartered Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In general, people are nice and approachable. Company strives to be a good corporate citizen in markets it operates in.

    Cons

Company is very conservative. Decisions are made by consensus, thus takes a long time in this complex, matrixed organization. Frequent reorgs, which shuffle senior management around

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More doing, less powerpoint

I worked at Standard Chartered Bank as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    strong presence in Asian markets

    Cons

still big cultural barriers between locals and foreigners, especially that all the graduates must be locals. it is ridiculous that a so called "global bank" does not sponsor work permit for international students.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The international graduate program is not international at all. Top performing and the most ambitious overseas students wish to have a global career, not to go back to their home country.
