Pros

You have flexible hours, scientific freedom, and are surrounded by some of the best scientists in the world.

Cons

It is very hard to get a permanent position as a PhD scientist (unless you are a prof), so think of it as a place to learn and then find somewhere else.

    Pros

This place has great weather, great restaurants, and a great working environment. The Bay area is a wonderful place to live.

    Cons

It is a rather expensive place to live. The housing is expensive. California is politically dysfunctional. There are not four seasons.

    Advice to Management

I do not have any particular advice for the Stanford leadership. They are doing a good job. It is not my position to judge.

  2. Often stressful, but you're at Stanford so it is what it is
