Probably what you would expect from a summer job

Former Employee - Sales Associate in Chapel Hill, NC (US)
Former Employee - Sales Associate in Chapel Hill, NC (US)

I worked at Staples part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Get to work closely with some of your co-workers, who I got along well with so I enjoyed the
camaraderie
The managers were generally helpful if you had any clarifications needed

Cons

Deliberately tried to avoid giving OT even during busy periods, which would lead to work getting piled up causing for some odd (EARLY) hours in order to work when the customers weren't in the store
Had to wear multiple hats at once sometimes when people would not show up or call in sick

I have been working at Staples full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Gives all the tools to succeed. Lots of great benefits, even for part-time workers. Pretty good bonus structure and rewards successes.

    Cons

It's retail... weekends and holidays. Pay structure is better for those externally hired rather than promoted. Pretty tight on giving the hours necessary to get everything accomplished... but again, as I said, it's retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don's spend quite so much time worrying about pleasing shareholders. Keep communication lines open with those on the front lines.

    Neutral Outlook
    Approves of CEO
