I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

- A very clear-cut career path
- Opportunity to work directly with clients
- Interesting Work
- Great compensation

Cons

- Culture of workaholism is praised
- No regard for human beings. They literally were excited to use the death of a co-worker to get in front of the clients he left behind.
- No respect for junior employees.
- Siloed culture per department. Almost impossible to make friends across departments.

Actually show that you care about people and take your own advice that you offer to clients.

    As 2+ year old merger of WW/TP continues to takes hold, culture clash is still very much evident.

    I worked at Towers Watson full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Good clients. Good Account Management model. Decent training for junior level. Lots of offices around the world. Good work-at-home policies. Decent technology (windows 7, finally), CEO is very approachable and has delivered excellent results to shareholders.

    Cons

    Culture clash between legacy firms is significant, and varies greatly depending on the office and/or practice. WW was very flat, collaborative, open, but consensus driven and slow moving. TP was a very hierarchical partnership, everyone on a need-to-know only basis, and uncollaborative, but faster moving and more sales oriented. Little attention was paid to create a new culture. WW was more wild-west and innovative. TP was more structured and parters ruled. Post merger these two approaches have yet to find a happy middle ground.

    LIke any large firm, strategic decisions take forever. Corporate red tape has increased under the cover of a maturing firm.

    Pay more attention to the underlying culture differences that everyone glossed over during the merger.
