    Pros

    It's better than flipping burgers.

    Cons

A very hierarchical organization, with an incredible amount of internal politics with a bureaucratic, slow moving, top-heavy management.
Senior management expects you to be deferential, conformist and the only way to get on is to suck up, Payrises are consistently below inflation. The attitude of HR is "if you don't like it you can leave" (this is a literal quote from an HR manager commenting about a group with a staff turnover of over 30%); to senior management you are simply a cog in the machinery and you can be substituted at any time (no matter how many years of experience, degrees or qualifications you may have)

    Advice to Management

Start listening to the "troops" and stop treating them like dirt. Slim down all the level 3/4 managers, they don't help, there are too many of them and they just get in the way of delivery as their only concern is survival and politics.
