I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Work at home is a big pro, no clothing expense, no gas and no eating out. Retirement match is pretty good, benefits are fairly inexpensive

Cons

Raises are minimal and sometimes non-existent in a bad economy. Deductible is really high for employees.

I worked with bright, hard-working, fun people and very supportive management. That made it a good place to work.

    Pros

Dedicated workforce. Managers have some flexibility in supporting staff with family challenges and work-life balance

    Cons

Health care reform may cut the market out from under certain parts of UHG, but may strengthen others.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Challenging work, exciting to positively impact health care.
Access to large sets of data for analysis which provides a huge opportunity to decrease errors and increase cost savings to insurers, providers and patients.

    Cons

Poor values - they do not practice what they preach.
Monthly pressure to cut staff and increase production without providing necessary support or systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a decision and then give it more than two weeks before changing your mind ...doing a sixth leadership reorg in a year leaves little confidence in future decisions your making.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
