    Very limited growth opportunities for growth. Middle management is stagnant.

    Pros

    I have been here for 4+ years. FRB is "not just another bank" - it is a very successful, greatly respected full service financial firm that has retained many positive qualities of a start-up or a family business.
    1. Our attention to customers and clients is off the chart
    2. Very, very flat organization - I can approach anyone with an idea or a contribution
    3. Cafe - from Wolfgang Puck
    4. Pay for performance
    5. You get your birthday off (I don't know of any other finance firm that offers something like that)
    6. I get to work every day with very smart, very committed, very focused people

    Cons

    1. The pain associated with growth - we have grown explosively since we became independent in 2010
    2. Management can trend too conservative sometimes, but I see it improving - they are becoming more open minded and aware what they need to do to be a competitive employer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Maintain the relentless focus on the client and their experience - it is absolutely what distinguishes us
    2. As we grow, recognize we will need more and different structural tools (budgets, employee education opportunities)
    3. Continue to hold fast to the FRB Values (which are exemplary) and if a concept or situation does not pass Values scrutiny, move on

    Friendly employees, solid benefits and a pleasant work environment

    Cons

    Classic big-bank hierarchy, impossible to work efficiently with increased compliance, lacking in internal growth potential

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stay focused on the original vision of the bank and stop raising fees for Private Wealth--it detracts from the business model. Allow more opportunities for growth within the firm and better incentivize referrals/asset gathering. Make the company structure flatter.

    Small enough to feel like your work makes an impact.

    Cons

    Ruthless management style. No appreciation for employees' hard work and devotion. Very mediocre benefits and compensation and zero career building/coaching etc.

    Pros

    -Members of the management team do care about their employees and their well being
    -Subsidized Cafe
    -Co-workers can be wonderful to work with and can be collaborative
    -There can be growth if you work hard
    -Company has great values, but not necessarily always followed.

    Cons

    -Some senior managers do not care at all about the well being of their employees
    -We are a fast paced environment and often hire individuals who may get the job done, but are not the right personality fit. Recently, we have been hiring people who get around by cutting corners and stepping on people, which does not fit with the values of the company
    -The company does a bad job on promoting people based on how hard they work or skill set.
    -Our company strives to be the best in customer service, which is wonderful, but at the same time it causes there to be a minimal work life balance for those who do their jobs well. There is a work life balance for some jobs in the company and for those who do not do their job well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take the time to really look at the new management you are bringing into the group. You will continuously lose your strongest employees if you hire managers who are only concerned with metrics, numbers, or how they look to their bosses and above. Your people are your strongest assets.
