Something is wrong with this place.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Framingham, MA (US)

I have been working at Genzyme full-time for more than a year

ProsFriendly people in Framingham.
Good benefits.

ConsMany people are miserable. Overworked, and "failure is not an option."
Disorganized. Processes are overly complicated.
Very hard to be successful.
Management is inexperienced.

Is it just me? Or why is everybody else complaining?

Great Company that Puts Patients First

Staff Scientist (Current Employee)
Framingham, MA (US)

I have been working at Genzyme full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGood benefits (bonus, vacation), great culture, good people, driven.

ConsHR; difficulty moving laterally within the company. Internal candidates treated no different as if they were 'off the street'.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange policy on internal candidates: idea: offer internal candidates an informal interview with the HM before throwing their CV in the 'candidate not selected' bin. Good talent walks out of the door every day.

Pretty Good

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Genzyme

ProsGood benefits/vacation time. Everyone is pretty friendly for the most part. Management does a good job in my department.

ConsSo-so pay for the amount of hours and work. People jump around a lot from department to department in order to get decent pay increases. Sometimes feels like Quantity is more important than Quality.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore focus on employee retention and professional development.

strange culture and environment

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Genzyme full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSmart, motivated people; good products

ConsThe Allston Landing manufacturing facility has a problematic history. The result is a strange culture, which simultaneously wants to change but is deeply entrenched. Bureaucratic bottlenecks prevent obvious improvements from being made.
