I have been working at Goodyear as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

You will never be under trained. There are tons of opportunities to earn certifications, take classes, and learn new skills. The headquarters is beautiful with tons of amenities (gym, amazing cafeteria, clinic, starbucks, a mini kitchen on each floor). This was the best place to be starting out my career because I am able to learn so much from the classes and the people around me. Also, this is an exciting time for Goodyear because they are steadily growing, so I feel like that can only bring with it more opportunities.

    Cons

It is a massive corporation... so if you are planning on climbing the corporate ladder, be prepared for a long climb. Its easy to get lost in a company this large.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure that there is a legitimate need for an intern before you hire one... there is nothing worse than having people sit around twiddling their thumbs, for both the employee and the employer.

I have been working at Goodyear full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Goodyear is a great company to work for, with a really attentive management and a great work-life balance. The environment is quite demanding in terms of objectives, but this is how they have been over achieving over the past 5 years.

    Cons

Policies are still under development, and need to be implemented soon to support all employees. Some of the processes are quite heavy, and this should be corrected with time.

I worked at Goodyear full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Promote from within and the opportunity to run your shop as you see fit.

    Cons

Little to no support from higher ups. They put you in a run-down shop, allow you to restore it, then move you to another run-down shop. Long hours and horrible benefits. Oh, and forget about taking holidays off, they have you work nearly every one, while the corporate office gets every holiday off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow managers to fix and keep their shops instead of having the good ones repair and move on.

I worked at Goodyear full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Training opportunities abound. Plenty of room for advancement for anyone who doesn't mind hard work. Overall Goodyear is a good company to work for. On a higher level they are a very honest company with high integrity.

    Cons

Poor work/life balance. To achieve decent compensation required to give up home life. Benefits are mediocre at best. Some organizations within the company are rather cutthroat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Certain organizations within the company seem to have no clear direction. Getting everyone on the same page working with the same core values would certainly be a plus to the company.
