Current Employee – been working at H&M part-time for more than a year
Pros – 10.39 starting salary as a part time sales associate! the company really shows that they care about their employees and humanitarian efforts. You don't really have to sell anything because the clothes sell themselves. you just have to be a fast worker.
Cons – Most managers are really cool however you will run into some crazy or douchey ones every so often. The weekends are rough in terms of closing and cleaning the store. It can get pretty stressful working in a packed store sometimes.
Advice to Senior Management – I wish they had health benefits for part timers too and not just full timers.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at H&M full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – High pay, bonuses, discount on merchandise, fast paced, options for career advancement, depending on your district lots of district team support, continual training, the staff
Cons – H&M seems to be focusing on doing more with less (less floor coverage, less hours, less time to accomplish tasks) which puts a lot on the shoulders of store management. There wasn't a day I came home that I wasn't almost completely exhausted.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that running on a razor's edge of efficiency is going to backfire. Eventually some idea or task isn't going to be accomplished and since there's little to no buffer (with hours, too many projects, etc) things will snowball and the seasoned, competent employees will head for greener pasture.

Former Employee – worked at H&M part-time for more than a year
Pros – Discount (25%)
Management is very flexible with time off, and understanding
Friendly co-workers (in my case)
Cons – NEVER ENOUGH PEOPLE ON THE FLOOR/ ALWAYS CUTTING HOURS (I cannot stress how many times Ive talked to human resources and district managers..NOTHING helps)
Getting out as late at 11:45 (we close at 9pm)
Complaining customers over not having anyone help them
Stress, stress, stress
Overworked
Should definitely be paid more than minimum wage
Advice to Senior Management – Stop cutting hours and give us more people on the floor!!!!!!
You'll have less stressed out employees and happier customers (believe me)

Former Employee – worked at H&M full-time for more than a year
Pros – H&M has a great employee discount.
If you show some initiative, they might promote you, but who knows how long that will take.
No real dress code.
Decent starting pay.
Cons – Favoritism on the part of management (i.e. some employees are given more time to work on marketing their departments than others).
Managers will throw you under the bus if they didn't give you enough time to get your department ready before a district team walk through.
Advice to Senior Management – Give full-time employees a majority of their shift to work in their department...not on the register or in the fitting rooms. That's what part-timers are for. Provide proper training to new hires instead of letting them fend for themselves. Your "non-rehire" policy is a joke, especially when your treatment of employees is the reason they quit in the first place.

Pros – coworkers are diverse
first dibs on new products
learn a lot about retail
Cons – customers that keep asking for discounts
low growth if high traffic
Advice to Senior Management – set time aside to examine the performance of workers and store as a whole in a more intimate level
