The slave, robotic like labour is reflected in the good pay.

Sales Associate (Current Employee)

I have been working at H&M

ProsThe discount is very generous at 25%. Things can be picked up very easily, like the ancient cash machines where the scanners sometimes don't work and you have to type things in manually ( like sale items which don't come up automatically).

ConsThe management never gives positive feedback but are so fast to criticise and be rude. They show very little respect to employees and don't even think about trying to get days off - even if it's your birthday or sister's wedding. They just won't give it to you unless you book it, like two months in advance. Everything is very robotic with no thinking or creativity needed. Things become very boring and repetitive.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay better attention to your workers and get an attitude change. STOP BEING SO NEGATIVE AND RUDE!

Better than other retail jobs, but still a lot of work.

Part-time Sales Advisor (Former Employee)

I worked at H&M part-time for more than a year

ProsThe people on staff have a unique personality and are hard working.
The pay is better than other retail jobs.
Fast pace to keep you busy.
Suggestions you make as a part timer are heard and recognized.
Learning new tasks toward a promotion are encouraged and also can be fun.

ConsManagement is usually never on the same page which can be frustrating.
Moving up depends on a lot of variables which can also be frustrating.
As a PT, hours depend on how the store is doing each week which means less hours per week for you.
The """efficiency model""" can sometimes conflict with providing customer service which makes the store as a whole look bad.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp enforce your staff's suggestions with improving the store. Be the leaders and store can improve.

Overall great environment but I missed an opportunity to grow

Part-time Sales Advisor (Former Employee)
Barcelona (Spain)

I worked at H&M part-time for less than a year

ProsHow you are treated by bosses and co-works. Very good environment.

ConsLow salaries, but maybe higher than other retail chains.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive employees more chances to grow up. While I was working there I felt I had SO many potential but my bosses were not using it or giving me any opportunity. My contract ended and it was not renewed and I feel I could grow so much in the company but it did not happen.

Fun, fast pace work environment with a diverse team.

Sales Advisor (Former Employee)
Louisville, KY (US)

I worked at H&M part-time for less than a year

ProsThe discount is amazing and the things you can learn (retail wise) is great. So many ways to move up in this company and many opportunities. Pay starts out really well.

ConsMy management team wasn't the friendliest or easiest to speak to or work with.

Advice to Senior ManagementStressful work environment, but be friendlier and more sincere to all.

At first I really liked my job now my mind is definitely changed about that.

Sales Advisor (Current Employee)
Burnaby, BC (Canada)

I have been working at H&M part-time for more than a year

Pros-Discount on sale items
-Make great new friends
-Great clothes

Cons-Hours get cut when store isn't making daily targets
-Managers expect way too much and never help out.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop cutting hours when you think the store is not making money. When there is a rush of customers and only employee on the floor it is hard to be on cash and provide customer service to others..
