I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good compensation, benefits, somewhat flexible

    Cons

Improper training when first hired, lack of opportunity for growth, if you don't know the hire-ups, you simply won't succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to get involved with bottom-line employees and avoid covering up for certain people's alcohol intoxication and stop promoting lewd behavior

I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The majority of the people I worked with were great. The company encourages the employees to do charity work within the community. Benefits aren't bad.

    Cons

Salary for certain management positions is pitiful. Hourly pay is fairly competitive though. There's no work/home life balance for management in the department I worked in. Even though the majority of the coworkers are great, there are a couple bad apples in upper management they won't get rid of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a hard look at upper management.

I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The culture is very laid back.

    Cons

Work-life balance leaves a lot to be desired, there is little development of employees, a bit of an unprofessional (blue collar) type of environment.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Equipment is replaced every 3 years. Facilities are newer. Most management actually cares about their employees, all the way up to the regional director. They're very focused on keeping their employees safe. There's also a welcome distance kept between drivers and mechanics. There's a 4 day work week. Almost everyone in maintenance management started out working as a mechanic or a driver then moved up and you can too. They have discount programs with multiple nationwide company's like verizon, jeep, gm

    Cons

The pay is middle of the road and the benefits are a joke. Your required holidays come out of you're PTO and if you run out before a holiday expect a short paycheck. They are very strict when it comes to their standard repair times and they try to cut them down as often as they can. There's no overtime allowed. They often run out of soap and towels and won't order more until the month is out and anyone who has ever finished a dirty job can attest to the importance of being able to get clean.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more manufacturer based training. PTO should not go towards national holidays. And health benefits needs a major overhaul

I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Professional environment with an opportunity to move up "Get Promoted" within the company.

    Cons

Working long hours when necessary with and without rewards. Management will listen to and implement all good ideas as long as there is no safety or business conflict.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk with the average worker more and especially the new personnel.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to work. My coworkers are cool to work with. Management does its best to liven up the atmosphere and create excitement for a position that can be extremely repetitive. They give you the tools you need to succeeded and continue training even after the 3 week training period. The company is always getting new business and new career opportunities are always becoming available. Really great benefits that are extremely helpful

    Cons

I don't really have too many complaints. A lot of the complaints I here is the pay is low. Its definitely fair for not requiring a degree and the benefits available makes it better. Sometimes the hours can be long but that's the standard for the transportation industry. Another complaint is that sometimes politics are at play. It isn't anything that brings down morale but its noticeable that there are favorites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep up the good work and cut down on the favoritism

    Cons
