I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Allows flexibility in your schedule to work from home. It is very fast pace environment, gives you an opportunity to manage your own business, make executive decisions, and lead/direct a team of managers. It is a great stepping stone to grow as a mid-level manager and gain different experiences you really can't get from normal day to day operations. This position definitely trains you on how to be a good multi-tasker.

    Cons

Always on call 24/7, and working 50-60 hours a week. Work-Life balance is poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work-Life balance needs to improve for all managers. Need to come up with a solution where employees can go home and not have to answer business phone calls on the weekends or after hours.

    Pros

Great culture and great people to work around. The managers really care about their employees and will do everything to ensure you are comfortable in your position.

    Cons

Not a whole lot of upward movement. Upward movement is gained through time at the company alone, not really by performance.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Managers who act as if they care about you

    Cons

    No work life balance
Expected to use personal phone for company business at all times of the night/day
Terrible compensation which isn't explained properly
Vacation time and salary are non negotiable, but H.R. acts as if they are.
    Promised promotions are never delivered
    Training is absolutely terrible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a grip on the company and listen to employees. Every survey you send out you are told work life balance and compensation are the number one issues that you promise to work to improve and never do!
Stop putting money first and think about your employees, sometimes Walmart will just have to wait.
