Janssen is a collaborative environment that appreciates innovative ideas.

District Sales Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Janssen full-time for more than 10 years

ProsExperienced management and a small company feel. Janssen respects those that take informed risks. Development of associates at all levels is a cornerstone of the company's success.

ConsAs with any pharmaceutical company at this point in time there is a high degree of uncertainty but if you thrive in ambiguity, you'll do just fine!

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to be transparent in every way possible as it builds associate trust and respect.

Overall good, but some pockets of company very political

Product Director (Current Employee)
Titusville, NJ (US)

I have been working at Janssen full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCollaborative environment

Good formalized development programs

ConsSome senior leaders are focused on their own agenda and advancement and are not supportive of their teams
Depends on where you are in the organization -- slightly different cultures depending on location
Politics tend to contribute to advancement opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementDespite initiatives in employee engagement, would be helpful for organization if senior management really embaced this.

Janssen is a strong company with lots of opportunities.

Brand Management (Former Employee)
Titusville, NJ (US)

I worked at Janssen full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGiven significant responsibility in junior positions and freedom to succeed. Also, provided plenty of resources and additional training both at Janssen and J&J.

ConsIf you did not work your way up through sales you will need to work extra hard to understand the sales environment. Many brand managers and Sr. management started in pharma sales.

The Credo is for show. Don't believe it. Don't believe them when they say uncapped bonus.

Executive Sales (Current Employee)

I have been working at Janssen full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood salaries, but low bonus structure.
Training is done at home on your computer.
Great company cars.
Large budgets on new products.
Not too many meetings.
Sales force uses iPads.

ConsBenefits are not so great.
Not a lot changes over 20 years of employment.
Never pays bonuses on time.
Overlapping of reps.
Always in trouble for illegal use of materials.
The use of iPads in the field to track employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in more managers from outside JNJ. The culture is moldy.

Perfect place to coop

Finance Coop (Current Employee)
Raritan, NJ (US)

I have been working at Janssen as an intern for less than a year

ProsI think that the best thing about Johnson and Johnson let alone Janssen is that they treat all of their coops like they are in an actual entry level job. I work in Finance, and its been great to manage budgets, sit in on billion dollar reviews and feel part of this awesome company

ConsThe only thing I will say is that I was not from the state where I did a coop, and they did not offer me housing. That isnt to say that coop and intern housing is not available. It does get offered to some coops.
