Pros – The peer group is quite formidable in actuarial life. Many experienced and knowledgeable people to learn from
Cons – Pipeline not very strong. Long period of being 'on bench'
Too many people chasing too few client work
Advice to Senior Management – Get your act together

Pros – Flexible working hours. Getting the work done takes priority rather than "face-time"
If you handle your work efficiently, there is no need to work till very late.
Lots of social department events.
Can learn alot about your industry
Cons – Pay is relatively low compared to working hours overall.
Can get busy during year-end audits.
May be deemed as "less glamorous" compared to other financial services roles.

The brand opens up access to companies and projects you would not otherwise be exposed to. Especially if you find yourself working on prestige projects
A powerful brand for your CV
Good work life balance
Good central office locations
Cons – Can be hard to progress between grades - can be hard for managers to make it to senior manager
There can be silo mentatlity amongst the various groups
Complex internal structure
Differentiators to the other Big 4 sometimes hard to grasp
Advice to Senior Management – Keep refining the Advisory strategy, sharpen it up and focus on how KPMG pulls away from other Bi 3 accounting firms

- support of your development (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CFA exams sponsorship)
- constant growth in terms of responsibilities and level in career pyramide
Cons – - Sometimes there is large pressure due to strict deadlines
- Many business travels is not a good thing for people with children or dependants
- Accounting might be boring

Pros – the people at KPMG are great, and there are parts of the business that do incredible engagements with very talented people.
Cons – internal systems and support not what they should be, lots of unneccesary beaurocracy..feels a little bit like working in central government sometimes, which is at odds with the client facing feel of the firm.
Very hard to get promoted.

Current Employee – been working at KPMG as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Very friendly people, nothing is ever too much and people always willing to help. Also given a deal of responsibility for a junior position.
Cons – Systems are very complicated when first join. Often not clear what work is meant to be completed by when, can sometimes be sprung upon you.
Advice to Senior Management – Make more of an effort with juniors.

Cons – Long working hours - expect to be on your emails during the weekend

Character building
International brand, innovative
Opens up opportunties outside of KPMG in the future
Cons – Long hours are expected particularly at busy season.
'Extra -curricular' activities / work expected if you want to achieve promotion
Economic crisis means usual turn over of qualified staff has not happened, many assistant managers fighting for very few managers roles at the minute promotion unlikely.
