    I worked at Kohler

    Pros

in general staff is ok, hard working in spite not thanks to current management. Given some leadership potential of a great team.

    Cons

Too much favourtism, lack of leadership, working on basically flawed strategic plans, heard people rather than leading them. Can not find and if they do or retain good people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn to give direction, give attainable goals to people. Trust is a two way street, staff does not trust its managers, finance management simple is rubbish. Give up on the idea to establish an SSC! You do not have the leadership, multiculturalism required.

I worked at Kohler as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Kohler Co fosters a collaborative team environment (due to nature of the company, employees work with product managers, industrial designers, engineers, accountants on a daily and weekly basis) - Resources to learn and grow - Fun company culture

    Cons

Many opportunities for lateral moves - not necessarily many opportunities to grow within the company - Older generations of employees due to location - have a difficult time attracting young talent

I worked at Kohler as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked as a co-op for 7 months, gaining invaluable experience in product development.
    - excellent, passionate co-workers
    - strong team environment
    - superb company golf discounts

    Cons

    - being family owned, projects are typically forward thinking and therefore slow-paced
    - business sets over-ambitious goals for sales, therefore significant improvement is still marred
    - stuck in the not-so-bustling metropolis of Sheboygan, WI

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Express more interest in hearing from project teams, not just their project leads, or leaders of project leads.

I worked at Kohler (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company offers great Benefits, good beginner pay, gain a lot of experience, hours, they give inexperienced people a chance to build some experience in the manufacturing world.

    Cons

Company has a lot of Backstabbing both from lower and upper employees. weak company structure, VERY hard to get the raises you deserve, always switching plant managers, you take the classes....don't get paid for them, and Most likely there won't be a job offered for it. Waste of time because it gets you nowhere and they aren't valid outside the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to instill and build company moral

    - A lot of support and resources
    - Mentoring and stewardship for Interns
    - A lot of fun company events and picnics

    Cons

The work pace can be a little slow if you are used to a fast paced environment. The designers there are very knowledgeable and experienced, may not be the best place for young designers first starting off.

I have been working at Kohler full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Friendly and professional staff. Teams work to integrate new associates into the culture. There are opportunities for growth and development within the organization. In the near future with the change of leadership, hopefully the culture will shift to be less formal.

    Cons

Kohler's compensation structure is one that is unique, complicated, and dictated by a quintile system. The quintiles can limit the compensation advancement of workers. Management is slow to act and move on critical issues. The Oz principle of accountability is stressed but management does not always hold their members accountable. Old and stuffy management style. Corporate office attire is strictly business professional and the atmosphere is "thick". The environment is not a cool and fun as the products we produce

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold associates accountable.Work on making Kohler to be an employer of choice for both professional, administrative, and manufacturing associates.
