minimum stress and learn a lot about different fields

    Cons

no promotion, career growth and it is a self-employed if you work at home as an interpreter so no holiday, pension, etc

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions

    Pros

Very laidback management, great friends and people and opportunity to meet and make friends with people. Job satisfaction and great pay, benefits and vacations as well as 401k.

    Cons

Sometimes good friends you make will not be there the next day which is a huge blow when you know them for a long time, sometimes its really slow and nothing to do but read and read.

I worked at LanguageLine Solutions full-time

    Pros

Got a lot of experience with interpretation and general customer service, and working from home you do save a lot of money and gas.

    Cons

Low pay, everything that happens ie, you get sick, phone broke, got 5 minutes late is stacked against you in form of a formal warning and eventually everyone gets fired, because you can't go a full year with a perfect attendance record.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay and be just be more comprehensive with the interpreters who are running the company.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pros where the OT hrs and benefits, basically you get what you give don't expect much but offer stability

    Cons

Adherence and calls, try to show employees you care, no that they are all just numbers and quality scores. I believe also certain calls we handle that are not suited for the pay grade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just be a bit more humane

Current Employee - All Call Spanish Interpreter in Monterey, CA (US)

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Telecommute -- skip the rush hour traffic along with the wardrobe and lunch expenses
    Good start up training

    Cons

Barely competitive wage, no flex time or paid time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a specialized service which requires specialized skills. Performance suffers when one is @ 99.9% occupancy. It is counterproductive to slam the que with back to back calls 99% of the time. Take better care of your people, A few years ago you offered better incentives for growth from within,

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are an employee not a contractor. Everything is phone based and training was computer and phone based. The variety of calls makes the day interesting and your day goes quickly.

    Cons

Once you select your schedule when hired they refuse to allow you to change it. You can never reach your assigned manager when questions arise. You are the last to know of changes that affect you. No true communication with employees...at lease the home based ones...maybe its better if you work at a call center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Working from home is very different then working from a call center. I wish the company would be more willing to work with the schedule changes when there are legitimate reasons for the change.

Current Employee - Interpreter in Portland, OR (US)

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions full-time for less than a year

    Pros

An ok per-hour rate. Close to my place

    Cons

They opened a center in Portland and they hired interpreters for several languages. 2 months later they discovered that they hired more than they need, so they started laying off people. A lot of those interpreters left a full time jobs for this one. In-charges and managers are incompetent, they absolutely have no idea how to run this center. If you work there first feeling you will have is insecurity, now I regret that I quit my previous job and I already looking for another job. My advice to you is to think twice before joining them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice. People's life is not a game.
