I have been working at MEDecision for more than 5 years

    Pros

dedicated people at the core of the business; doing the best with a bad product and declining reputation

    Cons

flawed products, egotistical execs who think they know it all, hypocrisy of messaging about how people matter; declining customer base; keep moving the deck chairs on the Titanic rather than focus on exec talent; coming from a name company doesn't mean you are a good leader

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you can talk all you want about how important people are and even hire a Chief People Officer but your actions speak volumes and reveal your true values

I worked at MEDecision full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Salary was great - but no worklife balance

    Cons

Management doesn't know what it is doing in this market. Marketing is a mess. Back stabbing and lying prevail.

I have been working at MEDecision full-time

    Pros

    Compensation compensation, compensation, compensation, compensation

    Cons

Run by management much like a country run by Caste System. The worker bees and then the royalty.
Laying off complete departments and then asking other employees to step into those functions within in the company with no regard to their skill sets, educational background and work history. No training or professional development. Poor leadership. Leaders chosen and placed In roles that they for which they are not qualified. Positions appointed without posting the opportunity to others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that the company needs to have uniquely qualified professionals to perform the very specific and technical tasks. In other words, you can not fit a round peg in a square hole just because you laid off or chased off all of the round pegs.

I worked at MEDecision full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Not including management, some real good and talented people. But not many of them left.

    Cons

Big Churn every couple of years because of changes in upper management.
The company has been living off the fumes of the success of the original owner and original market niche.
Big layoffs last in the last two years.

Product Development Team Efforts Stifled by Senior Mgmt Decisions

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at MEDecision full-time

    Pros

Good people and a sense of collegiality in product development teams.
    Flexible work schedule.
    Casual attire.
    Clean and safe facility.

    Cons

    The future is ever uncertain.
Despite proclaiming candor as a value, Senior Mgmt shows a feigned, pep-rally camaraderie with the workforce, which is dispiriting and destructive over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be genuine.
Reward innovation instead of dismissing it.
Listen to the teams and give them the time and resources to develop solutions that will make the products more robust, maintainable, and scalable.

I have been working at MEDecision full-time

    Pros

employees care about their work; a lot of capable people; smart technical people; employees put up with a lot of abuse

    Cons

execs want commitment but most of them work remotely from different part of the country; messages about people being a valued asset are the height of hypocrisy: criticism and demeaning people is the real experience; morale is non-existent and talent is leaving weekly but execs don't really care

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be honest and just tell people it's all about the money and results no matter how you get them; don't preach candor if it really just means you can say anything you want with complete disregard for showing any respect for others

The only way to succeed in the future is to forget about the past

    I worked at MEDecision full-time

    Pros

    - Work/life balance - There are some stressful times, but they are predictable
    - People - Very talented, helpful, and collaborative
    - Casual environment
    - Ability to have a say and feel empowered.

    Cons

    - Too much negativity in remaining employees
    - Separation between the worker bees and the executive leadership team. Feels like two separate worlds
    - Slow response to adopt new technologies or adapt
    - Resistance to change because of fear of risk

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Undoubtedly, MEDecision has had a bumpy road over the recent years. But holding onto the past, pointing fingers, and hoping for the good ol' days is not going to help the company progress. There is much more opportunity at MEDecision for employees to influence change than at bigger corporations where everyone is truly a number and pigeon-holed. Encourage everyone to collaborate and "breakthrough" the walls that separate everyone.

I worked at MEDecision full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay. Good teams to wrk with.

    Cons

Work day never ended. "On call" most of the time. Management just didn't care about it's employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward at least according to industry standard. Make sure front line employees know that you are there and will support them.

Current Employee - Software Developer in Chesterbrook, PA (US)

I have been working at MEDecision full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Flexibility
People (mostly those that used to work here)
    Free Water

    Cons

    Ridiculous senior leadership
    Poor job stability
    Bad code base
    Little/no attention to technical debt
    Poor developer hardware
No investment into development, new technologies, software licensing/support

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start off by firing Deb. She's driven this company straight into the ground, and it's only getting worse. Then, remember that you are a SOFTWARE company. You don't make/improve software without R&D. It's time to invest in it, or this company is going under.

I have been working at MEDecision full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good group of people. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Leaders do not know what they are doing. Good managers are gone. Most of the current managers need LOTS of training.
The CEO brought most of her friends as VP's.
Nothing to learn, it is a 9 to 5 kind of job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to customers and employees.
