Current Employee – been working at Marriott full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Cheap hotel deals, when available, are a great benefit (only for permanent employees). Comfortable office building. Tries to be green, if you like that kind of stuff. Traces of corporate loyalty remain, but that's changing fast, so hurry up to enjoy it. They have money to burn on nice HQ facilities, which is nice for us who are there. Company makes good profits, so great bennies and pay for upper management if that's where you're looking to work.
Cons – IT outsourcing is well underway. Beware if you are IT contracting; they might tell you it's "just a re-org", but IT employees are being rebadged with outsourcers later this year, or (mostly) just sacked, with only a handful left to oversee the outsourced services, and IT contractors have no idea what's coming. Outside of IT, seems OK, so long as you watch for the next benefit cut; they do this to some random thing every year or so. Other IT shops in DC Metro often pay much better. Absolutely, totally would never recommend this place right now to an IT friend unless s/he is desperate and willing to work a rapacious contract but with an unknown future.
Advice to Senior Management – Too late for advice other than how to pick up the wreckage. You sure picked the wrong guys to run this. Get some good lawyers to deal with your outsourcers later. Get a good PR firm to deal with the fallout from random IT failures that are coming.

Current Employee – been working at Marriott full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Job safety, good relations with co-employees, well designed working tools. Well known brand name and multilingual environment.
Cons – Poor salary, no promotion possibility. Top management detached from real life of a hourly working staff which returns very poor salary, absolutely no bonus (year or occasional). No possibilities to improve skills needed to be a better employee.
Advice to Senior Management – Better salary, so people can afford to live a decent life.

Former Employee – worked at Marriott full-time
Pros – Great place for advancement. Very equal opportunity employer. Lots of wonderful, really nice employees.
Cons – I use to be very proud to say I work for this hotel. In the last 5 years the quality of upper management has gone so far down hill that I'm surprised that they still are in business. If it wasn't for the hourly employees, I'm not sure this place would still be in business.
Advice to Senior Management – Grow up and get more involved in the job you are there to do..

Former Employee – worked at Marriott full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Very people focused, a very "caring. sharing" approach to managing employees. Solid place to work if a steady pace is your thing. Management are loyal and the company does a great job of instilling corporate pride across the organization.
Cons – Slow to market with new ideas. Very by the book which is to be expected from a large corporate environment, but could encourage more ideas and entrepreneurial thinking from junior/ mid managers. Happy to accept a large amount of middle of the road performers.
Advice to Senior Management – See the talent, promote the talent and take a few chances.
