Its a mixed bag, the good comes with the bad.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Quincy, MA (US)

I have been working at Marshalls part-time for more than a year

ProsGreat co-workers and environment.
Flexible hours.
Good starter job.

ConsCan be boring, tiring, and frustrating at times.
Dealing with customers 24/7 can get tedious.
Awful raises.

Advice to Senior ManagementMix the job up for a cashier. Standing for 8 hours in one spot can make time drag on and makes being there painfully boring.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pretty good retail company to work for.

Shoe Manager (Current Employee)
Santa Cruz, CA (US)

I have been working at Marshalls full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThere are good health and retirement benefits

ConsOnly full time employees get benefits. Expect too much work to be done daily

Advice to Senior ManagementIncrease payroll. Along with going out checking on customers, cashiering, making my department neat, CAST, and processing and putting out new shoes, there is just not enough time. Also while were at it, GET RID OF THE GREETER! I personally think customers would rather get waited on faster than to have some one greet them and tell them which register to go to.

Working at Marshalls taught me what to loathe in life.

Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee)
Whittier, CA (US)

I have been working at Marshalls part-time for more than a year

ProsIf you can't find any job and you have no goals then work here.

ConsManagers are lazy. Little to no incentives to do anything. No concern for student schedules.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some pride in your job, I understand you're trying to make a living but seeing you go through the motions doesn't set a good example.

Worse first job ever

Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee)
Long Island City, NY (US)

I worked at Marshalls part-time for less than a year

ProsMy co-workers were the nicest people ever.

Conslow pay, no hours and they expect too much for people on minimum wage

Advice to Senior Managementstop trying to shove your company card in everyone's face. you don't even give compensation if a employee sells a card and no, a 20 dollar gift card is not good compensation.

Great Company

Back Room Coordinator (Current Employee)
Farmington, UT (US)

I have been working at Marshalls full-time for less than a year

ProsThey do work with conflicting schedules. The managers are great and have a open door policy and will help resolve any concerns you may have.

ConsThe pay is not really what you would think it would be considering how big the TJX company really is. It could pay its coordinators more for the work that they really do for the company.

Amazing company that realy cares about its people and will invest time and money into their success.

Assistant Merch Manager, District Merchandise Specialist (Current Employee)

I have been working at Marshalls full-time for more than 3 years

ProsEasy to advance if you have the talent and work hard. Great benifits and reasonable pay. The company is very pro associate and does not descriminate.

ConsCommunication can be a challenge as well as individual store organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue with the company values but stop micro managing things, trust your store teams that have the training and know how to do their jobs. Things aren't to bad now however I can see where things are going more and more towards reports and forms that have to be done instead of us focusing on our business.
