It's not a bad place to work

    Pros

You have a lot of freedom and total autonomy in your job. You are not tied down to an office. You do not work with your boss over your head. You go to a different Lowe's store every day, maintain customer service with Lowe's employees, help customers, train Lowe's employees and maintain sets are displayed properly and reset displays. You get a company car, health insurance, 401K with match. The job is very easy.

    Cons

Low pay. Can get monotonous being in a Lowe's store all day when there are not very many projects to accomplish. Not much opportunity to move up. The organization constantly changes from year to year. Just as you get used to doing things one way, they completely change it on you. They have gone through 3 sets of layoffs in the past 2 years so keeping the job may be hard at this point in time. They seem to have the attitude that they know they pay you a low wage but that if you want more out of your position leave, cause we can find more people to fill you place if you leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay the good associates that you have better so that people do not want to leave. It cost more to train a new person than to keep a current good associate. Don't change the way everything works every year or two. As soon as people get used to a system let them do it for a while before you constantly change everything.

I have been working at Masco full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

OK salary, good benefits, some very nice, very talented people many who go completely unrecognized.

    Cons

Company has gotten so "lean" employees are required to do the job of 2 or 3 people. No promotions - they hire from outside. Build your resume and move on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with your employees. Recognize the jobs they do. Promote from within. Communicate.

I worked at Masco full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Exceptional co-workers are very talented. Reasonable hours and good working conditions. Average salary but bonuses and other perks make up for it. Very diverse and interesting work during the up periods. International company with many opportunities to make a difference.

    Cons

Current executive management is beholden to Wall Street and makes decisions based on the current quarter instead of the next five years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the company not in the shareholders and focus on product quality!

I worked at Masco as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Interesting work, Good compensation, low-stress environment. People are kind and approachable as it relates to issues and questions that you may have.

    Cons

Nothing comes to mind initially, MASCO could be a bit more diverse, particularly as it relates to gender, but working in a technical capacity it is to be expected to some extent. Your level of advancement is tied directly to how diverse your skill set is, if you are in the technical side of things, its advisable to have an MBA.
