    Pros

    Supportive and progressive culture that drives employees to maximize their capabilities and contributions. Less of the political culture found in other organizations which lends itself better to success. There is a reason it is viewed as one of the best places to work.

    Cons

    There is a pace that can be heightened as far as delivery of solutions, but a solution is provided. Can increase the cross communication between business and an ease of corporate navigation can be improved.

    I have been working at MasterCard full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    I find a great live/work balance here at MasterCard; I start early and end early...usually 7AM - 4PM. The benefits are top notch with access to a gym and great medical and the company is doing very well overall.

    Cons

    On the down side, there is a lot of structure that come along with a bigger, public company...meaning lots of red-tape and reporting to managers.

    Pros

    Great Benefits, Occasionally interesting projects if you are in the right team especially if project is a business imperative.
    Great Top Leadership especially CEO. He is taking this company places. If only an ounce of some of his awesomeness can trickle down to the mid level management.

    Cons

    Too much cronyism. Make that extreme cronyism. It's done so openly it stinks.
    Forget about work life balance that they preach on paper but do not put in practice.

    Stop making your friends into people managers when they lack the ability to managers of technical teams or people managers period. People managers are critical to building the people if they can't it cost the company more money but lost trust and lost team moral.

    I worked at MasterCard as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    There are plenty of pros if you are a "green badge" employee, like good pay, benefits, modern facilities, and team outings. These only applies to a minority of the staff as most people are "red badge" contractors.

    Cons

    "Red badge" contractors make up the bulk of the workforce, and they are treated horribly. During the recession, MasterCard forced annual 10+% pay cuts on consultants. Converting from contractor to employee is extraordinarily difficult.

    Pros

    Profitable. Good salary. Interesting mix of Financial Services Sector and Technology Sector issues. Growing business / sector.

    Cons

    Too many pre-IPO legacy issues which permeate the company's DNA. Brand suffers against Visa's dominant position (a similar comparison is Pepsi versus Coke's dominance). Payments is a very 'quirky' sector which retains a seemingly large proportion of quirky behaviours / styles. Very US-centric management.

    The company has very good benefits. With the new CEO, the culture within the organization has been changing for the good.

    Cons

    Any ideas suggested usually goes through all levels for approval which could be hindrance at times. Incompetent leadership in some roles are stagnating the growth in their areas.

    Continue to embrace an open culture by giving opportunities to high performers.
