Solid company, but they care more about their image than their agency force.

Agent (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN (US)

    ProsGreat name and unparalleled training

ConsThey pay significantly less do to their pension however their pension doesn't add up to what you are giving up to work for them.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't make your partners recruit so much that they can't help develop their agents.

Best insurance company to work for in terms of support, education and compensation.

Agent (Current Employee) Seattle, WA (US)

ProsExcellent training and support for new agents.
You can't ask for a better managing partner than Mark Madgett. He is an inspiring leader who knows all the agents and cares for their success. He supports the office and all agents in the most positive, helpful and fun ways possible.

ConsIt's commission based and the first couple of years are generally a pay it forward investment. You need to be willing to work diligently and withstand sporadic paystubs for the first few years. This is true of most financial services job, nothing specific to this office or company.

Max New York life changed my career

Manager Training (Former Employee) New Delhi (India)

ProsThere was a lot of learning culture at that point of time in MNYL. The trainers were highly paid and all that was expected from them to give knowledge to all , be agressive in terms of spreading knowledge and no sales pressure. Job safety for all trainers, work culture safety for all women were the real add ons.

ConsThere were long office hours, work life balance was spoiled as the trainer was expected to be in office till 7.30-8 pm.

Pathetic, the enire channel of Direct Sales team got vanished.

Financial Planning Manager (Former Employee) Calcutta (India)

ProsVery good incentive scheme. Good leave structure but Sales Managers do huge mal practice to curtail it.

Conspeople dont want to buy their costly policies which are so heavily burdened with policy admin charges that the investment becomes pretty bad. Hr and admin are really irrate they dont support sales team, and dont pay much heed to it.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease try to focus on company's mission and vission, at the year 2009, the entire hierarcy was changed and another pseudo position ASM was creted between FPM and DSM, so those who fulfilled the target for 6 lakh got the same promotion of Associate Sales Manager which confirms a target of 2,30,000 in 9 months. Such sordid scenario explains the poor leadership and management at top level. This place is not at all for high performers.
