Employees work with you to help you develop, and the mentor program is great. Overall, outstanding morale at the company. Great training and professional development opportunities.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into compensation and benefits in comparison to Big 4. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at McGladrey LLP full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked in the Tacoma office for over a couple years. Great work life balance, great training, and awesome career growth. Great food and beverages for those long hours during busy season. Great benefits and vacation! Flexible work environment and you can work from home.

    Cons

Long hours (typical public accounting) and multiple bosses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get on the same page with each partner/director and with what headquarters is training associates. Often times, headquarters would set one standard and the local offices had another - sometimes each partner/director would do things all differently!

    I worked at McGladrey LLP

    Pros

The best values of working at mcgladrey was getting a inside look on how everyone operates in the firm and gaining the experience.

    Cons

No Balance even as a contract worker, during tax season i was working 12hr shifts everyday slaving and doing what tax associates should be doing. The talent acquisitions like to recruit outside the firm before they even think about refering a intern or some one thats under contract.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

accommodate more interns and contract workers with postions.

I worked at McGladrey LLP full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good flexibility. Dynamic group. Good marketplace recognition. People in my office group were very friendly. National level talent in technical areas.

    Cons

Promotion opportunity was limited and seemed like a moving target. Compensation was at least 25% below market. It may have been close when I started but was not accelerated as quickly as the market. I left for a 35% increase. It bothered me that the company could get rid of partners with 25-30 years with the firm so readily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lose track of market value for people who have been with the firm. You will have to replace them at market, why not keep the ones you rate well in performance reviews?
