    Pros

    -Incredible benefits
    -excellent job security
    -interesting company history
-lots of travel for work which means lots of travel rewards
-solid product that hospitals need at a good value compared to competition

    Cons

    -painfully slow sales processes
    -not much training
    -weird culture
-not enough good people stick around because they can make more elsewhere

    Advice to Management

Get with the times and stop skimping out on paying the people who are critical to the selling process and implementation of the software. They will always leave because they can make more elsewhere.

    Pros

The technology stack has an easy learning curve. It's a good opportunity for people with non-technical skillsets who want a transition into more technical roles.

    Cons

Programmers are significantly underpaid compared to the rest of the industry. The technology used at Meditech is not used by other companies, and can pigeonhole a programmer if they only develop using the technology stack developed inhouse.

    Pros

if you want to grow your career in healthcare/Interface programming, this is a good place to start.
    Good training program.

    Cons

Meditech has its own applications, its own email system, its own word, its own programming language...etc...its own everything. whatever you learn can not be used in other jobs unless if the job is related to Meditech programming.
Salary is very low compared to what other companies offer.

    Advice to Management

No one on one with your manager, no team meetings.
My nabber was friendly, but this was not the case for the employees I met there.

    Pros

Fun and exciting company to work for, with ample travel opportunity if desired. Great coworkers and direct supervisors and managers. Although smaller, raises are fairly consistent and performance based. Bonus structure, profit sharing and benefits are also a real positive. Great place to get started in medical technology industry.

    Cons

Starting salaries are WELL below industry standard and don't jump up too quickly. Upper management seems to be a bit arrogant in how they handle employees and turnover. Travel department always books cheapest option for trips which can be quite stressful.

    Advice to Management

Consider making starting salary point significantly higher to promote less turn over of employees. Allow traveling staff to have more say in travel arrangements.

    Pros

By far the biggest reason people come to Meditech is for the experience and culture. Meditech offers a great benefits package (90% healthcare paid, corporate events, telecommuting, annual bonus) and a solid working environment and it can be a rewarding experience working with like minded, hard working people.

    Cons

    Salary and management practices.

Salary: Meditech starts you off very low considering the industry standard. Salary increases are not significant and comparable to the work that you put in.

Management: Meditech has old fashioned practices that puts a cap on people's potential. Hard work is not equivalently rewarded. Salary increases are not fairly given and that leads to high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Reward people for their work and hire outside talent.

    Pros

At least in development, fairly flexible work environment. Work-life balance has gotten worse in the last year or two due to a high number of resignations with very few hires to replace outbound staff. That being said, the company really seems to have a culture of flexibility. If there are family emergencies, or work-load has gotten crazy, or you need to work from home to meet the plumber, the minnesota management mindset seems to be to let their employees make decisions on how to accomplish their work while keeping up with life.

For the staff who are able to make it through the difficult first few years, the compensation becomes more reasonable.
Though I would consider the company's far too conservative, it is nice knowing that they have never had a lay-off. It is pretty difficult to get fired.
If you're not a person who requires a lot of excitement, or you want a job that doesn't require a lot of ambition, this is a good company for a long-term career. After the 10 year mark, you're going to be in a good spot.

    Cons

Very low starting pay, compared to industry norms, with fairly low raises in recent years
A slow in hiring, with a fairly substantial number of staff leaving the company, has resulted in some very stressful workloads for some staff and groups
Not a very stimulating work environment. In recent years, the company has made a big push to add more education, health/fitness initiatives, events, gymps, cafeterias, etc. to make things a bit more fun. Unfortunately, basically none of these things actually happen in Minnesota. Meditech frequently boasts about benefits that MN staff does not receive, and they have dodged questions for years without any mention of a plan to incorporate these things.
Aside from service/implementation, it's a very stuffy atmosphere. Very midwestern, PC, quiet, political, not much room for a sense of humor.
Outdated software, processes, and mindsets provide employees with limited skills that could be transferred to another company.

    Advice to Management

To be honest, lower-level management in Minnesota is really amazing. The frustration that most people have with the company is from executive-level management. Pay is too low to keep most staff for more than a couple of years. They don't care, and they dance around ever admitting that pay is low or that the MN facilities are sub-par. They struggle in the EHR market because of their outdated, proprietary code, high turnover, and an extremely reactive strategy. They hire for products after they have already become a success, which causes quality to suffer and staffing numbers to always be a step behind. If you know your staff is stretched entirely too thin during a time that some of the most important products in the company's history are being developed, why wouldn't you make sure that you had the resources to do the best possible job?
