Former Employee – worked at NCR as an intern for more than a year

Current Employee – been working at NCR full-time
Pros – Good R&D, Sales oriented organisation, fair compensation.
Cons – 80s/90s mentally. Slow changing pace. Mainly Hardware driven. Limited SW experience in the company. Training is non-existent. No personal development program.
Advice to Senior Management – Need some fresh and young blood, need to become more international too. The Senior Management has the right vision but unfortunately it is not followed by the rest of the local team.

Former Employee – worked at NCR full-time for more than a year
Pros – Experience on your CV working for a huge global organisation
Cons – If you are thinking of becoming a Customer Engineer / Technician for NCR in the UK you will be signing your life away to them. They draw you in by promising pay reviews, after 12 months my pay did not rise by a penny. Working 50 hour weeks and working 14 days in a row all for £14k/year? Less than £1,000 a month? My parents got that 30 years ago! Forget that. You can earn more working behind the checkout in a supermarket! You can work as hard as you want in the company, your efforts will never be recoginised, as you are just another number and statistic to them. Do not waste your time with this absolute mickey mouse organisation, you will be forced to work slave labour for peanuts.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate with your staff more. Train your staff more. Treat your staff better. As they say, you get what you pay. Pay peanuts, don't expect fantastic results.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – It is a provider quality hardware and inventive design for the banking and retail sectors. It's technical back up and support is fisrt class.
Cons – It no longer shows any respect or care for it's workers. Morale is rock bottom and customer satisfaction has fallen to it's lowest ever level. NCR UK's cure for this? Tell it's staff to work longer hours for less pay. Demand unpaid out of hours work. Demand 70%+ of weekends to be worked. Make public holidays 'normal' work days. Scrap the company pension. Lowering standards so far that people who would once never have even got an interview now get employed.
Advice to Senior Management – Get out of your Ivory Towers. Try working in the field for two weeks solid, without a break and see how you and your family likes it. It is what you make us work.

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – What can I say: my manager really tried to make it work...... Despite poor communication from the top and negative members in her team
Cons – At NCR they are not really interested in their work force. Decisions seem to be be made in head office without local consultation and general communication in the company is very poor. The state of the building where I used to work was very bad: aircondition was always broken and everybody would suffer from headaches at the end of the day.
Many employees are very lazy and negative. Even when they are clear performance issues and/or attitude problems, nothing is done. Some employees seem to have permission to treat others badly or simply bully team members. Even raising a complaint doesn't make a difference!
Poor performers are moved to other positions in the company where they can keep their salaries and enjoy the rest of the time.
Senior management has an extreem arrogant attitude: when the site is visited they would hardly acknowledge you.....
Advice to Senior Management – Look after your people! Make them feel rewarded and treat them fair! Improve internal communication and lead by example. Look in the organisation at performance and reward accordingly.

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – The variety of equipment are great for an engineer and meeting the different customers is great.
Cons – Low wages. No chance of promotion or wage rise. new people get paid more even without experience or training
Advice to Senior Management – put yourself in our shoes for a day (or better - our wage for a month)

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – For this part of Scotland NCR is an excellent employer but there are not many good alternatives. You'd have to move away to get a similar job. Local management is focussed on customers and delivering business results but with a supportive attitude to a work/life balance. Pay is reasonable for the area. This part of NCR remains number #1 in the world.
Cons – Antiquated systems and tools. Continual cost cutting. Difficult for marketing professionals to get in front of customers. Inadequate tools for business analysis. Benefits are low compared to the market. Jobs are migrating to low cost areas.
Advice to Senior Management – More tools, training and a higher focus on all marketing professionals in front of customers.

Former Employee – worked at NCR
Pros – Excellent location with low cost of living. A market leader in it's field for the past 15 years. If involved with successfull projects the considerable scope for international travel.
Cons – Job security is non existent. Progression is random. Cuts seem to be random with no real assesment of contribution or skills. Aggressive cost cutting seems to continue unabated with no consideration of the affect on employee morale. Pretty much a short term view on everything. Employees can be very negative.
Advice to Senior Management – Remember that people work for NCR and that they can be motivated or demotivated. Currently their are few activities that will actually motivate people.

Current Employee – been working at NCR
Pros – It certainly is a global company with huge revenues and large profits. You will experience the hard end of global competition and strategy.
Cons – The company is only interested in short term profits and cost cutting. The future of the Company belongs to Eastern Europe, India and China with a few mega wages in New York. The company will strive to match US and Western European wages with those found in India.
Advice to Senior Management – NCR should have a future beyond the next quarterly results. A global company should look beyond raising it's share price at any cost. Ethics are not just a box to be ticked.

Former Employee – worked at NCR
Pros – There really isnt anything good to say. Most of the people who work there are highly skilled, and intelligent, but are being outsourced due to high costs. Those that are replacing them dont have the knowledge or skill level to meet demand. Management are no longer trusted, as promises made in the past have been broken. Other employees are lazy at best, and seem to get by unnoticed.

Those that are replacing them dont have the knowledge or skill level to meet demand. Management are no longer trusted, as promises made in the past have been broken. Other employees are lazy at best, and seem to get by unnoticed. The salaries offered doesnt match effort expectation, and there is no respect for work life balance. If extra hours are worked due to deadlines etc, they are lost, and there is no concept of getting time back.
Advice to Senior Management – Ensuring floor gromits being in place , and having a room booking system are not the way to boost morale
