    In terms of research, lots of valuable research resources from various research institutes and professors.

    Cons

    The institute i worked at did not encourage collaboration, and there are a lot of paper trails. I feel like most of the time I am writing emails instead of doing research or projects.

    - Pretty flat hierarchy
    - Great peers, great colleagues--best part of the job.
    - Wonderful students, a really bright, diverse, friendly bunch
    - Good benefits
    - Good food at all the hawker centers
    - Good location.

    Cons

    - Departments sometimes don't communicate to each other, leads to some conflict, some confusion, some overlapping work.
    - Huge bureaucracy--takes a long time for paperwork to get done.
    - More communication between people needed.

    Good environment and funding. Nice colleagues and easy to fit in. The salary is fair enough to live in Singapore and better than US schools.

    Regulation is very strict. May take long time to process. But better than some US universities.

    If you were positive, active, you will meet lots of intelligent people and learn a lot. And you will also have many opportunities to develop physical strength and abilities.

    Your development depends on yourself very much as a PhD researcher/student. You must be active, open, otherwise no one else will care much about you.
