I worked at Nestlé full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits and people. Lots of processes- very well organised. Lots of training available. Staff made to feel very much a part of the brand.

    Cons

The role was not particularly effective and lacked a bit or direction. This was raised but nothing was done about it. I think the role has been scrapped since I left

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carry on the relationship building and ensure staff can develop in line with their goals

I worked at Nestlé full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of the people can be quite friendly and the new office is a very nice place to work.

    Cons

Working in what they still see as the 'admin' team means that you are very often treated like the help and never given a promotion or the pay rise that you deserve.
They are SO SO SO distracted with nonsense like Six Sigma / LEAN that you can't get your job done. You can't just say that there is a problem, you have to measure weeks and weeks of data before you get the go-ahead to fix the issue. As for health and safety, I 100% agree that this is important however they have allowed it to take over. You MUST walk up and down the stairs holding a handrail or you'll get told off (and reported), you can't take even one step whilst talking on your MOBILE phone or you'll get told off, there are stickers on the stair telling you what side to walk up and to 'hold the handrail'. They have weekly meetings (MOR's) that drain the life out of you.
Anytime I have spoken to an old Nestle employee they always say how happy they are to be away from that utter time wasting nonsense. They think they are helping to avoid accidents when in fact they are pushing away perfectly good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STOP with the hyper-crazy health and safety. People understand that you have to be safe but hanging a ball on a string from the ceiling to stop people taking a corner too sharply is overkill. Let people get back to doing their jobs and don't force them in to measuring data just for the sake of visitors from Switzerland.
The most important point...APPRECIATE THOSE WHO ARE NOT IN THE PRODUCT DEPARTMENTS. Without purchasing you would have no machines, no materials and you wouldn't be able to run trials. Without the others that sit very close to the MD's office you would have no Christmas party and your visitors would get lost when they got off their private jets.

I have been working at Nestlé full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Successful organisation with a truly global perspective.

    Cons

Little real opportunity for development, culture unsupportive and hostile environment where you feel you have to constantly ask questions to understand what is required. Leadership is on the whole poor and internal politics rife. Very flat environment to work in and truly uninspiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This could be a great business however the rules around how you are required to work and focus on process rather than genuine improvement made it impossible to meet huge workload requirements and there was no opportunity to be creative in looking for better ways of working. Systems need improving and leadership need to enthuse and inspire not constantly focus on the negatives. I wouldn't recommend the company on the basis of my experience however I would encourage people to do their homework thoroughly to determine if this is the right culture for you as for me it wasn't.

I worked at Nestlé as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Strong ethics and principles on the customer business management side - was particularly impressed when a senior interviewing sales manager immediately destroyed commercially sensitive competitive information that a candidate brought for a presentation.

    A global food player.

    Cons

Just because it's global doesn't mean you're guaranteed a global career - varies by function.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's not my place to advise - all the ones I encountered were very hard working and ethical.
