Big company. What do you expect?

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Novartis

ProsNew technology, cutting edge. Get to work on a lot of interesting programs and projects. Am able to go to trainings whenever I need to. Great people. Everyone is very motivated.

ConsCorporate structure is overbearing at times. Tons of red tape. Lots of moments of asking yourself if upper management really cares about us or if we're all just numbers on an excel sheet in basel (which we are).

Novartis has been a fulfilling company to work for over the years with a good work environment and excellent benefits.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Novartis for more than 10 years

ProsGreat benefits package, clean work environment, sustainable growth opportunities, low turnover.

ConsCan be tough to promote or move forward with the company locally, low turnover makes it fairly difficult to advance, when they do promote its usually from outside of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake more effort to share knowledge and to offer opportunities to take chances to those below you.

"We beleive to managers not to employees" - HR Head said

IT Field (Current Employee)
Basel (Switzerland)

I have been working at Novartis full-time for more than a year

Prosstart with reorganizations of deparments

Cons- psicological pressure e.g. mobbing seems to be part of company values and behaivours.
- long stayed people often are useless
-in generally the level of professionality is not so high as could be expected, but the arrogance and never accept own mistakes or errors are out of mesure
-hr people are not too skilled and most worried about their promotions duing powerpoint presentation
-many people specially managers change the position to higher or to same level every 1.5 -2 years. What could be achived for the company during this short time?

Advice to Senior Management-watch out closely whats happen on the departments
-using the reogranization contract independent and unpolluted with company fear and values HR consultants. They should check academical background if exist (kindergarten and primary school should not count) and professional way and make a good clean up of departments
