Former Employee – worked at Oshkosh Truck full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great Paying Job (while it lasted)
Great Insurance
Lots of over time, 12 paid holidays. The company shuts the plant down two weeks a year for x-mas and 4th of July week. Turkey or Ham or Fruit Basket at X-Mas, the company cares for its employees and safety is stressed.
Cons – You never have a trash can when u need one.
Manditory over time. lack of proper notification of over time. Production hours change week to week.
Use of a point system for attendance in place but it's nessary.
Not a lot of stability to plan a social life around or a long term career or to buy a house for new hires.
Manditory use of 4 vacation days on 4th of July week shut down.
Not enough Personal Days
Advice to Senior Management – Bring back the trash cans to the main line!

Former Employee – worked at Oshkosh Truck as an intern for less than a year
Pros – - Products you are working on make an obvious positive impact on people's lives
- Great mentorship for younger folks - lots of professional development events for interns
- People are positive and very friendly/personable!
Cons – - There are more exciting places to live than Oshkosh, WI (alright for raising a family though!)
- Mostly male employees... but that comes with most engineering jobs
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Oshkosh Truck as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – I was fortunate to work with some great people at Oshkosh, and the pay was good for what I did as a temp. Great way to get back into the civilian work world, but still have some ties to the military through the vehicles.
Cons – I have no real gripes from my time working a Oshkosh, other than the commute from Neenah with the construction - but that's no fault of the company.
Advice to Senior Management – If your temps are good, please continue to make an effort to hire them on. Lots of them would like to be hired on permanently.

Current Employee – been working at Oshkosh Truck full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I believe in their mission to protect those (Warfighters), who protect us. The vehicles Oshkosh makes are second to none, they are quality vehicles that literally save lives everyday.
The benefits are fair.
Cons – HR and some members of the leadership team treat people (even a salaried employee like myself) as a number and don't take individual circumstances into consideration. The management is top-down only. Those with ideas or concerns on the bottom (manager and down) do not have a voice and will not be heard.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to those that are doing the work at the bottom and mid-levels, give them a forum, give them a voice. Leadership does not have a handle on what is happening at those levels and they continue to make changes without asking those people their thoughts. In many cases, the changes end up doing more harm than good. If you would ask people at the manager level and below for insight, you can prevent a lot of unnecessary hardship as well as saving time and money.

Current Employee – been working at Oshkosh Truck full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – It has a demanding customer, and is a fast paced manufacturer. There are plenty of opportunities for improvements, and the chance to work on many big projects. Products are very cool, and serving the customer is rewarding.
Cons – The expectation of working more hours. Never ending work load and a lack of training. Old-boy network controls promotions, and there is an overall resistance to change.
Advice to Senior Management – Share the wealth, low raises are an insult. Actually show that you value your workforce by listening to them. Maybe consider embracing 20th century (or even 21st!) management methods.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
