    OK but needs improvement

    Project Associate (Current Employee)

ProsFantastic co-workers, work life balance good, benefits are comparable, management is pleasant and flexible. Great training ground for clinical research.

ConsIt can come off that managers play favorites, career growth is hard to come by don't expect a promotion even if you qualify. Management will say the right buzz words to keep you interested and make you stay but things rarely materialize.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote the employees that deserve to be promoted or you risk losing them to competitors.

Will always consider PRA my home.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat Training for new hires and on-going
Good Technology; always looking to get the best technology
Lots of varied experience across peers to use as resources

    ConsLeadership
    communication down to the masses
Got too big and lost that nice family feel; more of a number now than a part of the company

Advice to Senior ManagementHave your leaders know the job positions and departments that they are over. Promote more from within.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great work life balance!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits and time off. Managers try their best to be supportive and helpful.

ConsHorrible at promoting from within. Salary isn't as competitive as it could be compared to industry.

    Miserable

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCompensation was adequate at the start, but after working 75 hours per week, the salary didn't equate. The medical benefits were good.

ConsThere was no flexibility, at least in the department I worked in. The manager had no people skills. Staff was afraid of getting caught having a conversation that was not 'company' related and they were afraid to have an open line of communication for fear of retaliation. There was no work/life balance, always understaffed and work their best people the hardest. You lose 1/2 of your accrued PTO upon departure from the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the employees so that you can retain good talent.

Still a good place to spend a long career.

    Clinical Programming (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people who strive to be great at serving their customers. Foster a good eam environment with sponsored team building social events. Foster career growth especially for lower level people wanted to gain valuable experience.

ConsDon't always manage work/life balance well, overworking their best staff members. programming environment is old and outdated but will soon be upgraded to a state of the art environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay what it takes to retain your best and brightest. These will become the future leaders of your company and be the mentors for the next generation of young employees. If you continue to let the fast risers leave for more money there will be an uphill battle to realize the desired growth of the company.

Great Company - some departments better than others

    Project Analyst (Former Employee)

ProsMy coworkers were great! The company has great benefits as well and works to take care of employees. Managers were very open.

ConsAs a project analyst there was not much room for growth which led to high turnover from that team. Also, that position specifically was far too broad and all-encompassing to handle the level of turnover, causing analysts to be overworked with unrealistic expectations of how much of a load could be handled.

Advice to Senior ManagementStructure the Project Analyst in a role that you stop losing so many good people. The highers that are made are great, but with no room to move up the best people will constantly be leaving which is already hard to stop with so many other CROs in the area.

    Sad declining company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Charlottesville, VA (US)

Prosgreat benefits and the individual people are good to work with daily

Conssenior management doesn't know what they are doing, vasr turn over, no valve placed on experience, this company has been run into the ground by ex-PPD staff, no original PRA culture exist which was a good environment to work in.
It is a shame to see the decline in this company over the years

Advice to Senior ManagementValve your employees and their knowledge and communicate with them

    Systems Driven, Large CRO Environment

    Clinical Team Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe exponential growth of the company over the last several years has opened up the organization to a great deal of job opportunities and the potential for career advancement. The management team is generally very supportive and the company places a strong emphasis on using the latest technological systems in the field.

ConsGrowth has meant the sacrifice of a more "family feeling" company and decreased the personal connections between staff members. There is a strong sense disseminates from upper management that the bottom line now outweighs quality in staffing. Employees are also at the mercy of their functional manager in terms of moving ahead in the company, which can be highly detrimental in situations where there are frequent management changes or the individual is not strong in this role.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote the retention of quality employees!!! The policies in place are leading to high turnover and the loss of some of the best resources in the company.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
