I have been working at Paradise Bakery & Café

    Pros

This job is very fast paced and there is always something to do. This job is for those that enjoy working under stressed conditions to meet a ticket time.

    Cons

Management tends to be on different page as the GM as well as corporate. Each manager has different goals, very confusing on who to please. The starting pay is terrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think you should allow the good associates to work their way up instead of promoting lesser talents.

I worked at Paradise Bakery & Café full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Most of the managers were pretty decent, lots of good people to work with in the back of the house, Generous pay, room for advancement, and free food.

    Cons

Management is not allowed by corporate to fire poor workers simply for being bad at their jobs, which means that if you work hard, you'll just have to do someone else's job too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the garbage employees or keep losing your good ones, I loved doing my job but didn't want to do my coworkers jobs too.

I have been working at Paradise Bakery & Café full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked up to a good work-life balance. Having a good support staff helps.

    Cons

The upper level management started to change and the environment changed as well. Perks changed to be non-existent, yearly reviews disappeared, and morale took a turn. I went to loving coming to work to being stressed and frustrated. The structure diminished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistency and also supporting staff when important items are brought to your attention for me to do my job. When issues arise later due to lack of support on issues already discussed, the disconnect shows and I cannot perform as I want/need to. The old Paradise culture has been lost.

I worked at Paradise Bakery & Café part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay for little to no experience at a young age. Your manager has a lot to do with your experience. Discounts on food are nice! Plus taking home left over food when you close is great. And you can move up fast if you connect with the manager enough!

    Cons

Customers are very unfamiliar with the "line" set up, so they get upset very easily. One person on the line can slow everything down, and that makes customers mad. It's VERY fast paced during lunch rush, and you are expected to learn fast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My general manager was terrible. She was very unorganized, forgetful, and rude. She very clearly picked favorites. And she made a lot of people hate the job more than they should have. The previous manager was much nicer. I suggest they take more time picking management, and work on communication and organization.

    Pros

Opportunity to grow but there is a cap on that growth and you will learn that pretty quickly.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't follow the rules. DM's have favorite GM's and soon you release your on the outside and your career comes to a halt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Follow the rules yourself.

I worked at Paradise Bakery & Café part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Taking home leftover cookies.

    Cons

Their top priority is money. Some customers and co-workers were rude. High turnover rate for employees and General Manger.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should promote a better working atmosphere which would lead to happier employees and better business.

I worked at Paradise Bakery & Café full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The coworkers I had were alright, for the most part. The job itself wasn't bad at all, but the Signal Butte/Baseline location was horrible.

    Cons

The most dysfunctional group of managers I've ever worked with. One chewed dip inside the restaurant while on the clock, one ignored blatant health violations and had an excuse for everything, and another harassed the employees daily about a dress code that she didn't even follow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get a new job.
