I have been working at Perrigo

    Pros

Interesting projects and products. Friendly and helpful coworkers for the most part.

    Cons

Lots of red tape and paperwork to get anything done, both because of regulations and sometimes excessive management oversight. Too much emphasis on squeaky wheels and one-time issues instead of long term impactful solutions.

Former Employee - Chemist/Analyst/Technician? IT Keeps Changing! in New Hope, MN (US)

I worked at Perrigo full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The former Paddock, is one of the most profitable/valuable Perrigo sites. It manufactures numerous relatively small scale niche pharmaceuticals; making it a diverse and robust market position that comes from having multiple pipelines. This diversity also provides exposure to many different types of processes and analyses; making it an ideal "first" job. Furthermore, the site was/is well established from its Paddock days, as a superior example of GMP and GLP practices.

    Cons

Profit above all! This is the company mission statement regardless of what they say, but not at the expense of quality. Getting paid $5000 less than your peers right out of college isn't that bad considering how many different tests you get exposed to. That is until QC decided to make the lab an assembly line of testing. Do you just want to dilute samples to volume all day (and not actually test them)? After 3 years, hopefully you got trained on an instrument, so you can get a job elsewhere, as your peers are now making ~$15000 more than you a year. And hurry up, as this pay discrepancy will continue to grow (and not linearly) year by year. Or you could talk to your manager/supervisor, but wait.... They laid off or chased out all the managers/supervisors that cared about their employees, and replaced them with latter climbing, inexperienced puppets who will assure you that they are working on it. Once you realize that it has been 2 additional years, you're now making $30000 less than your peers, and you're still just diluting to volume everyday........ run!!!!!!! Because the only thing they are working on is making you inexperienced, underpaid, and undesirable to other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start caring! Remember when you started, all the testing and business processes you were exposed to, the supervisors that wanted to advance your career, and the opportunities that gave you the skills and knowledge to excel and advance? Other people want that too; along with a wage that justifies the collegiate effort, and affords more than a mediocre apartment and with a 10 year old car.

    Pros

Benefits and job experience was terrific. Generally sociable atmosphere, good communication.

    Cons

Middle management. Some of the lab supervisors & managers can be unprofessional and not always resourceful when investigating out-of spec results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the managers who constantly have complaints against them.

Current Employee - Manufacturing in Allegan, MI (US)

I have been working at Perrigo full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, easy jobs with realistic employee expectations. Benefits are some of the cheapest in the area if you meet their fitness criteria.

    Cons

Antiquated manufacturing processes and an old school business model signals a focus on short term profits rather than long term viability

Low expectations of employees on almost every level can be very frustrating for managers

Recent changes to wages and benefits and a corporate inversion to maximize profits, may be a warning to anyone considering a job offer here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on making perrigo a state of the art, trend setting industry leading manufacturing facility for long term success. Too much focus on spending pennies to make nickels short term instead of spending real money for long term success. Adopting manufacturing processes 10 years or more after they are considered innovative is not a good plan.
