I worked at Planned Parenthood part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working with a team illuminates shared experiences and room for improvement.

    Cons

I was told each canvasser would receive a pay raise to $18 an hour on election day, only to later find out there weren't funds for such.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Openness with with employees goes a long way. Express expectations and when they are not being met.

I have been working at Planned Parenthood full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

If you are looking for a job where you won't just be another employee but more of a valuable team member this is the place to be. I have never worked for an organization with so dedication to you as a person. They teach you so much and involve you with everything. I have meet and spoke with the CEO, COO, Etc. so many times. What organization/company can you say you worked for and get to know the CEO or other higher position individual and say that you have meet them on several occasions? Very few right. PPPSGV is an amazing place to work.

    Cons

The pay suckssssssssss. It's sad but true. The only downfall for such an amazing organization.

I have been working at Planned Parenthood full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Passionate leadership, competitive salary, fulfilling work. Company provides tons of paid time off, and recognizes young talent. Company is progressive and very politically correct. High moral values, a very great place that will accept you for who you are. Strong women run the show at Planned Parenthood!

    Cons

It is a non-profit, so pay is not exactly the highest! You have to really go above and beyond to get a raise, and jobs can be at risk due to budget cuts.

I worked at Planned Parenthood as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I love what the organization stands for. Getting to work with them to try to and stop dangerous legislation was a very rewarding experience. Everyone you work with shares the same values so I think it makes for a very productive atmosphere.

    Cons

I was hired seasonally to work on advocacy. I wish that the organization would invest in someone full-time to do this, even if it is not me, as I feel that having a presence in the community is crucial to the cause. Invest in the employees that are invested in the goals.

I worked at Planned Parenthood full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

From top down, both in administrative and patient care services, employees and staff really cared about providing compassionate care to community members in need. We were very focused on educating and empowering patients to make healthy behavioral choices, and it was rewarding to contribute to that. Ultimately, I'm very grateful for the hands-on clinical experience obtained & friendships made.

    Cons

With so many employees, sometimes there were issues with communication and making sure everyone was on the same page and updated on policy changes. We always seemed to be understaffed as well, which did not help with the notoriously long wait times for patients!

I have been working at Planned Parenthood

    Pros

I value the integrity and knowledge of my fellow co-workers. They are able to balance persistence and humor in the workplace. I am honored to work beside them. They deserve more than the company gives them for working 10+ hours a shift. My shift last night was 11 hours. I work 5 days a week.
Off the record, employees of planned parenthood receive no holiday bonus. Nothing. We get a mere $10 per employee toward a clinic-hosted holiday gathering. #nobonus #ceobenefits

    Cons

The company lacks organization, value for their employees, and guidance toward the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the pros and the cons of my review. I've never worked for a more self serving non-for-profit organization.

I worked at Planned Parenthood full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits package and competitive salaries (if you can make the case for yourself). Coworkers are wonderful, and the mission is a great one.

    Cons

Terrible work-life balance, especially on the c4 side. Increasing overemphasis on the advocacy work, and decreased focus on the health delivery work. The leadership is disorganized, and spends a lot of time spinning its wheels and trying new initiatives that don't pan out. Incredibly high turnover, especially among younger employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many cooks in the kitchen!
