Lakeland, FL (US)

Former Employee – worked at Publix as an intern for less than a year

ProsFreedom to manage self during work hours. Strong teamwork aspect with both the associates and management. I greatly respect management's willingness to invite fresh eyes into the manufacturing process and implement the changes suggested.

ConsStrict adherence to schedule and in/out time clock. Daily I spent as many as six hours in a thirty eight degree refrigerated work zone. Most of the other workers were more active, so it wasn't a problem for them, but what I was being asked to do required little physical exertion most of the time.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to focus on improvement, you guys are awesome.

Hilton Head Island, SC (US)

Former Employee – worked at Publix full-time for more than a year

ProsPositive environment, friendly coworkers and opportunities to work overtime during the summer.

ConsPublix promotes from within, rewarding the loyal instead of the hard workers. Overworked

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider promoting based on performance rather than seniority. I worked alongside inventory stockers with college degrees and worked under managers with GEDs.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry and lean back on your employees a little bit, sometimes it is frustrating to be pushed around because you aren't on the top of the totem pole.
