I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Qualcomm in general has a strong culture and genuinely seems to care about its employees. They provide a lot of opportunities for development, and good compensation, especially for strong performers.

    Cons

Perhaps this is typical of large companies, but they need to look at trimming the fat in mid management levels. There are too many people with minimal contributions who have their position merely because of seniority and playing political games. On the positive side, it seems like efforts are being made in this area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trim the fat, and make sure to take care of your best people.

    Pros

You will have fulfilling experience of playing your part in enabling the leading mass market mobile technologies, and good learnings

    Cons

Often you can be bypassed easily and recognition for your contributions is not so straight forward. Moving to next level can be hard as company gets saturated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle level management needs more open-minded and performance based.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are a self motivated person who loves technical area and single, Qualcomm is the best company to work for. Short deadlines, highly talented team members, focused on work done rather than number of hours you put in. Great perks for people who do quality work, great for fresh college graduates.

    Cons

Worse work-life balance, long working hours. Qualcomm is driven by strong mobiles market, time to market is crucial, hence you are often caught in a cycle of meeting the market deadlines before the competitors. Your life becomes only Qualcomm!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Go home on time :)

Management believes engineers know it all and don't respect business intelligence.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good pay and benefits. Twice yearly reviews with raises and bonus. Up to 5 weeks vacation a year, + 12 paid holidays. Promotions are easy at the lower levels but hard to get as you mover up in the company. Very low attrtion shows people really enjoy working for the company.

    Cons

Very low attrition shows the company is great to work for, but it also has created a bottle neck at the middle management level of the company. The hours can be long during crunch time!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget that is was the large investment in R&D that has made the company so successful.
