Former Employee – worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – People I worked with. Flexiblity and availability of mgmt. Stable company that is trying to counteract a dying industry.
Cons – Company will never see a great growth, but I don't think will tank either. Pay is well below average for job titles.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at R.R. Donnelley full-time for less than a year
Pros – Co workers
Sales Rep
Flexible with work/ilfe balance
Cons – Duties are merged between positions and there's a lot of competition for getting higher position/salary but not much opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management – Reward hard workers so they have an incentive to work harder, cut pay on those who waste their time.

Current Employee – been working at R.R. Donnelley full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Some of the people are great. Close to home. Good hours.
Cons – Not having the right equipment . Bad pay increases (however I am personally ok with where I am at pay wise - just have taken on more work and not really seeing the benefits of having done that - 1% accross the board - that is what I mean by bad pay increases.). Unreasonable demands. Have priorities messed up. Absolutely no work/life balance. If I knew than what I know now I would not have taken the job.
Advice to Senior Management – Please please listen to your employees. We know what we need to do our jobs yet some in upper mgmt think they know better and it warrants no further discussion period. As far as work/life balance...having managers just flippantly say..well you will just have to work overtime, instead of really looking further ahead is just not the right thing to say. I have watched people come in with great attitudes and desire to learn and do a good job - than after awhile just do not care any more. This is clearly a mgmt issue. Please just have an open mind.

Current Employee – been working at R.R. Donnelley full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexible working hours. Nice people to work with. Casual Work Attire. Opportunities to learn new technologies.
Cons – Lack of appreciation of management to employee. Not rewarded for hard work. No real chance for advancement. An Extremely Cheap Company.
Advice to Senior Management – Management should consider their employee's contributions before arbitrarily putting them at the bottom of the pile. Also consider investing in your future -- your employees. As a long time RRD employee I am considering leaving along with many who have already left. The recent 1% raise was an absolute joke to all who received it. I'm sure upper management receives more than 1% on a yearly basis, and it is doubtful that it is well deserved.

Current Employee – been working at R.R. Donnelley
Pros – The people here are great, the atmosphere is good, and the building has all the amenities you could ask for in a downtown office building.
Cons – Not much room for advancement. If you want to get promoted, you practically have to wait for your boss to leave or get fired. Benefits & pay are on the middle to lower end of the industry scale.
Advice to Senior Management – Make benefits more attractive to keep your employees. You can start by offering tuition reimbursement, more vacation days, and actually paying out bonuses.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at R.R. Donnelley full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Friendships and people who do care.
Cons – Constant stress for 8 plus hours a day. Waiting to see when someone will have a heart attack or lose it and hurt someone. Would love to know why our plant is stuck with management who are dumber than blocks of wood.
Advice to Senior Management – You are all selfish people who don't have a clue at what you're doing. You are sinking our facility and its just a matter of time before we'll close because of your inability to properly run the plant. Karma will catch up with you.

Former Employee – worked at R.R. Donnelley as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – The fellow employees are incredibly nice and welcoming. There's either so little work to do or the managers are so bad at preparing the work that you'll often spend hours upon hours sitting around doing nothing while you wait for them to get the jobs ready. Oh, and you can also wear comfortable clothing, which is nice.
Cons – They expect new-hires to perform at the same level as those who have been doing their jobs for over six years. In addition, the "training" if you could even call it that, was laughable. It consisted of a day long powerpoint and 2 practice documents. We were then turned loose on live jobs, and when--surprise surprise!-- we make mistakes, we were simply thrown aside, and they had another group of untrained people come in. They do this process repeatedly, and they seriously don't see the idiocy of it. The managers themselves were non-existent, often spending their entire day hunched over their computers, offering no oversight or direction.
My advice: just avoid them altogether, or if you want, milk them for 2-3 weeks worth of money while looking for another job in the considerable downtime you'll have while working there. They don't take your employment seriously, so neither should you.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide actual training, give new employees time to learn, and get managers who actually know what it means to manage.
