Current Employee – been working at REI Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – REI is a gem along the beltway. I have worked at a number of different tech companies in the area and few can match this place. The grants work we do is incredibly impactful and it's typical to work very flexible hours - which is great for me and my family. I also enjoy the team I work - very friendly and reliable - along with the benefits of bagels, ping pong and Xboxes in the game room.
Cons – The company is growing pretty fast and it is hard to know folks outside of your team. More should be done at the company or project team level.
Advice to Senior Management – Have more company events. Get more employees involved in corporate initiatives and not rely on a handful of people to lead every club and program.

Former Employee – worked at REI Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – Very friendly team members, supportive and understanding.
Cons – 1. Inexperienced management. Bad planning, no value for people and hard work. Moreover, they make developers to pay for their own errors. They make you feel misarable and always judge you.
2. A lot of overtime.
3. A lot of actions against the labor law. Follow them or will be laid of. If you do not want to work overtime, you are not good team player.
4. Nothing really interesting from technology side.
5. They promote only people who they like, not who deserves promotion.
I quit. Back to US.

Former Employee – worked at REI Systems full-time for less than a year
Pros – The company has some good contracts. Senior management of the company is good and cares about the company. The facility is also nice.
Cons – There is a lot of favoritism in the company. Be prepared for long working hours. Its a sweatshop. There is no process or order. Everything is emergency. Managers are non social and least interested in the employees. They get stressed very easily and then stress the hell out of everybody. They work like dictators.

Current Employee – been working at REI Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – Fast paced environment, friendly colleagues, fair benefits. The top executives care about the employees but lately there has been a disconnect.
Cons – lack of planning, unrealistic and uneven task assignments, too much work, stress. Sometimes feel like learning nothing new and working exactly same things.
Managers see-saw between being caring to mean and are overly focused on budget without focusing on proper planning and work allocation and lack the ability to motivate and utilize resources.
Technology is outdated and people who claim to know newer technologies seldom do.
Employees expected to work late nights and weekends frequently.
Advice to Senior Management – Growing sense of insecurity distrust in some employees needs to be addressed, now. Too much negative micro management. Need to encourage employees to learn newer technologies. Work life balance needs to be improved.
