Pros – Culture and people are excellent. Like minded staff, all young and vibrant. Great benefits, such as private medical aid fully funded by company, used to be free soft drinks and free food day, and fun events like dress-smart day and hawaiian day. There is lots of stucture and everyone knows what is expected, with lots of training given to bring employees up to speed.
Cons – Performance based on stats, based on how many tickets done compared to your peers. Management is strict on time keeping and lunch breaks. Canteen food expensive and not the greatest. Benefits given at the expense of low salaries, which most staff complain about.
Advice to Senior Management – More compulsory training should be given to staff. More meetings between staff and mangement need to be conducted.

Current Employee – been working at Rackspace
Pros – Working with like-minded literally 'fanatical' people. If you are passionate about delivering good service, Rackspace is the place to work. Fanatical Support is not just a tag line here....people live and breath it - even compete in how Fanatical they can be!
Cons – Too many young people - sometimes it lacks maturity and professionalism. It would benefit from some strong, experienced management.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your staff...not only the loud ones. There are some great ideas out there, if you would only be prepared to tap into them. Collaborate between offices. It could definitely be improved.

Pros – Very enjoyable environment to be part of. The Rackspace culture has grown on me since starting and the catch phrase 'Fanatical Support' is something they take seriously when supporting customers, without going overboard. The employee entitlements such as free breakfast, soft drinks/coffee, games room, gym membership etc. are very nice percs. The people working at Rackspace are some of the nicest people I've ever met.
Cons – Haven't really got alot to say here. I think the pay could be a bit better compared to what techs get elsewhere. I have no idea how much Account Managers/Sales people get paid sorry.
Advice to Senior Management – Personally I only deal with my direct manager and there is no problem with that relationship.

Current Employee – been working at Rackspace
Pros – Rackspace is a fast growing organisation providing opportunities for capable people. It, as in its culture, genuinely believes in what it is trying to achieve. It is evolving therefore all can be involved in shaping the future should they desire.
Cons – It is a growing organisation where changes can take time to be implemented. The standards and expectations are high and it is not possible to please everyone all of the time. The workload can be demanding at times but this is set against achieving high standards for the customer.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the pressure on to effect the desire changes as all will benefit in the long run. This may create a little pain but it will be worth it.

Current Employee – been working at Rackspace
Pros – 30 days leave a year
Good games room
Good team outings
Cons – managers - they do not have a clue
I have tried to get changes pushed though that will benefit techs and account managers though there is so much red tape.
Additional the support side of things are not compensated or appreciated as much as the sales side of the company
Advice to Senior Management – Rackspace is a service company - not a sales company so pay service people accordingly.
If we want to be the best service company we need to start paying the best for the best people

Current Employee – been working at Rackspace full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Rackspace is fun and has several excellent perks. This is the only job I have ever worked for at over 5 years and I still enjoy coming in to work. The highest leaders such as Directors, VPs, the CEO, the President of the company, and the chairman of the board are all incredible people.
Cons – Some departments may have poorer upper management than others. These particular departments tend to hire or promote team leads that they feel bond with them on a personal level. If they feel that they can socialize with a person outside of work, yet they also meet some qualifications of the job, they will be more highly considered for employment into lower level leadership (team lead positions). Knowledge of the job itself isn't considered as important as the ability to interact well with senior managers.
Advice to Senior Management – Allow employees to express issues that affect them without reprimanding them and deeming them as "negative" when they have legitimate concerns. Many times, there are issues that affect customers and business but when an employee attempts to speak up about the issues, upper management (in this particular department) takes offense and either writes up the employee, which then scares them into transferring to a different department; or they terminate them. Several very tenured and experienced employees transfer away to different departments due to this. I cannot speak for every department and will not mention which department this issue correlates to, but unfortunately it is an issue that multiple people notice.
