Advice to Senior ManagementKeep going!

A high Calorie cult like circus with sadly little substance other than Fanatical support - don't believe the Hype

Sales Representative (Former Employee)
Hayes, England

I worked at Rackspace

ProsSome great products
Superb customer support
Reasonable Flexibility in working life
On-site Gym
Good Office + Canteen - you will put on weight here
Some good technical brains & SE's
Great for SMB / SME sales people to start your junior sales career
Growing fast - but for how long?
Leaders in the cloud
Great on-boarding process / education
A good stepping stone to a better career elsewhere

ConsPoor Management with little backbone to do anything or make changes - don't put your head over the top of the pit etc
Revolving door of Enterprise staff - before joining ask about attrition rates in Ent team V.high
Far too much tribal knowledge - if you can find it you might be OK
Despite constantly making reference to 'Treating Rackers (employees) like friends and family - this does not happen.
If you have an opinion different to the management you are branded as negative...so don't have an opinion
Too much sickly sweet ;hey how you doings' everyday....yawn yawn
No share option scheme in the UK
Obsession with culture to the detriment of actually addressing the real business ssues
Lots of time in the office.
Think of it more as what you can do for the company rather than what it can do for you.
Managers in constant meetings and producing nothing of any tangible benefit to anyone.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company is fundamentally a great company but is being let down by constant in fighting between SMB & Enterprise teams. A confused go to market strategy and an obsession with culture is unhealthy. Try fixing the bigger problems and put money in peoples pockets instead of praise in emails. Empower managers who can make decisions instead of being spreadsheet managers.

Highly challenging yet supportive environment - A GREAT place to build your career

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Rackspace

ProsGenuine culture that inspires people to offer their best.
You're working with some of the smartest people in the industry.
Massive growth and opportunities.
A highly aspirational organisation striving (mostly succeeding) to be on the cutting edge of service, technology and culture.

ConsEnormous growth means an extremely busy environment - good problem to have!
Growing pains.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more to help and support new leaders into the organisation.
We really don't have a cultural problem - let's stop over rotating on engagement surveys.
The change and growth in front of us is going to be difficult. Help us to do it smarter, faster and more smoothly.

A great place to work and learn !

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
London, England

I worked at Rackspace

ProsPeople | Exposure to technology | Great Team Leaders | Great company events | Made a lot of good friends while there

Consexpected to do a lot of overtime | work-life balance issues | pay under market rate | moving from a medium to a large business model | a lot of teams are turning to the call center type approach

Advice to Senior ManagementStart listening to the people that on the front lines . a lot of senior managers feel too secure in their positions, they forget that they're here to lead ...

Good small company

Rackspace University (Former Employee)
Uxbridge, England

I worked at Rackspace

ProsPeople, culture, high level of energy, social. The company is great at reaching out to employees to find out ow they are feeling and thinking and then for the most part the management do something about any issues.

ConsIn some areas there seems to be silos, these are few but they do stand out. The US leadership is often remote and disconnected from Europe.

Advice to Senior ManagementEstablish a stable long term leadership team in EMEA rather than 2yr tours by US leaders. Get a different office location.

Drifting as a by-product of gentrification.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Rackspace

Prosgood peers | great learning opportunities | relaxed environment | exposured to a lot

Consoverinflated view of itself |increased bad management | no execution | growing pains leading to loss of culture

Advice to Senior ManagementStop hiring people who don't fit the mold. Don't try to artificially control culture. Pay and benefits need to rival other employers. Stop being schizophrenic.

Not the best ICT employer in the UK for nothing!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Heathrow, England

I have been working at Rackspace

ProsThe people
The breakfasts
The attitude of everyone
The feeling of being valued
The charitable work the business encourages
The games room

ConsThe expectation that if you DONT work extra hours you are looked down upon. Work Life balance is nigh on impossible. No-one is safe from performance management, but then work hard and you are rewarded for it, so it's all good.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it going, don't forget the culture when the business changes...which I'm sure you won't. Maybe a couple of PS3s and more fun days wouldn't go amiss :)

London, England

I have been working at Rackspace

ProsAwesome work Culture.
Integrity and Honesty are much appreciated.
Visionary Senior Management.
Family and Friends culture is awesome.
Rackspace provides best of tools.

Consthe culture is changing for worse.
Rackers are 'Rackers' because of the culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementSo dont get too sucked up in the Corporate culture.
and listen to the frontline Rackers, they know the stuff.
Quality over Quantity should continue to be the goal.

Good company with good benefits.

Lead Tech II (Current Employee)
London, England

I have been working at Rackspace

ProsCulture and people are excellent. Like minded staff, all young and vibrant. Great benefits, such as private medical aid fully funded by company, used to be free soft drinks and free food day, and fun events like dress-smart day and hawaiian day. There is lots of stucture and everyone knows what is expected, with lots of training given to bring employees up to speed.

ConsPerformance based on stats, based on how many tickets done compared to your peers. Management is strict on time keeping and lunch breaks. Canteen food expensive and not the greatest. Benefits given at the expense of low salaries, which most staff complain about.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore compulsory training should be given to staff. More meetings between staff and mangement need to be conducted.
