    I worked at Rockwell Collins

    Pros

Not many. Had a good reputation at one time. Very tarnished of late

    Cons

Company single minded approach to business. If it does not fit the company plan as per cedar Central it is dismissed as not good. Very short sighted. Despite the company vision statement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your customers. They buy the products. Very many have left for products from other manufacturers.

I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The best parts about working there was the ethics policies that everyone happily integrated into working life making it a very comfortable place to work and learn. All teams were made of long standing employees of the company which gave the place a good friendly feel with a really good work output.

    Cons

The salaries started really quite low and took a little bit too long to climb up to an appropriate level without having to go down the leading/management routes to achieve appropriate salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very little useful advice could be given... Perhaps a more accurate way of assessing keen talent/ skills and upping their salaries accordingly would be the icing on the cake in such a good workplace.

    Pros

    Not many. Its a job.

    Cons

Too any "YES" people. No vision of the global situation, almost arrogant. They have had a big part of the aviation pie, and do not think they need to change to meet the current world situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Rockwell Collins

    Pros

good cross matrix organizational, COEs and program management
They do their own manufacturing, not all 3rd party like many others

    Cons

Continuous focus on finding someone who is different, when you hire, they tell you what color or gender you have to hire. Over and over. Gets really really frustrating. Can't we just the best qualified candidate regardless of race/sex/gender/bias/ whatever agenda of the day?

Former Employee - Senior Electronics Technician in Cedar Rapids, IA (US)

I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the challenges and the ability to move from department to different departments. Cutting edge GPS groups were great to work for.

    Cons

Too many middle managers. The company relies on SAP and LEAN too much. Another misstep that I saw when I worked there was the integration of the company's outsourced materials that were too vital for the product that we were forced to use. It seemed that nobody ever wanted to admit when they made a mistake. Finally, the nurses station group has too much influence on employees' job status. They should stick to making sure people are healthy and stay out of human resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees and not to the status quo. And make sure that the final product's quality is more important than putting out a poor product on time so the stockholders get an extra two cents per share of stock.
