STERIS is a great place to work if you like working by yourself but within a team

Field Service Representative II (Former Employee)

Prosflexible schedule, make your own weekly and monthly schedule. work out of your home, pay is really good. good vacation time. form relationships with your customers and attend there needs and meet all kinds of interesting people

Consthe balance between work and family is off. lots of overtime due to manpower shortages. long lead time to getting someone new hired.

Advice to Senior Managementnot everything in work life is or can be measured by metrics. nice guide line but should not be the be all end all

    Flat Organization

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsStable industry. Long term employees. 401k matching is about standard, consistent medical/dental benefits. We have been able to keep the same practitioners of the last few years.

ConsLow annual increases. Flat organization, little room for advancement

Advice to Senior ManagementWould be an ideal job if there were room for advancement

STERIS headed in the wrong direction

Account Manager (Current Employee) Houston, TX (US)

    ProsWork at your own pace

ConsSTERIS is so far behind the competition in the Surgical business unit they have no chance in catching up. Stryker and Hill-room are going to run STERIS to a minor player in hospitals, and the upper management just doesn't see it coming.

Advice to Senior Managementcompany values are not Lie, Cheat, Steal and make it up on the back end.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Learned a lot but they do not care about their employees.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWas somewhat flexible about work hours. Did offer some ability to learn new skills and continue education.

ConsManagement does not really care about individuals as long as you do what they want you do do. Reviews do not reflect the actual success and work ethic of employee. Can go way above call of duty and still only get average review and very little pay raise.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more incentive for individuals to contribute to the company as a whole. Communication and cooperation between the different divisions is horrible. Everyone is in it for themselves not the benefit of the Corporation.

    Innovative and Positive Workplace

Customer Care Representative (Current Employee) Mentor, OH (US)

ProsGreat benefits, the company offers a growth program that employees can follow and they are large supporters of career development within the company. STERIS is an industry leader in the medical field and working for a company like that is something to be proud of.

ConsSimilar to many other corporations, meeting quotas and getting reports in on time are of great importance. The environment between employees is friendly but there's always a competitive atmosphere since internal hiring plays a large role.

    No advancement for service techs

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsPay is ok
    Company vehicle
    Expense card

Cons100% travel for service technician, management out of touch with service technicians. No room for advancement for service techs. Dangerous work conditions, no training programs for entry level service technicians(for the spectrum techs) to advance in the company or gain new skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop looking at the numbers and value your current employees. Promote from within or provide training programs for entry level employees who want to advance in the company.

    Stable company with good people

    Territory Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGood people with integrity and customer focus, good contract presence.

ConsLack of career advancement opportunities, average compensation, slow to market new products vs. competition. Average marketing department sometimes slow to respond, or unable to offer appropriate level of expertise to field sales/customer needs.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest more in "training up" internal employees for future advancement and leadership opportunities. Improve internal talent management.
